I don't necessarily share the couple's taste in art, etc., but what a fantastic house! All it needs is a swimming pool surrounded by jungle plants.

I don't understand why anyone would want to do this shake an egg and hard-boil it thing. It defeats the whole purpose of eating a hard-boiled egg! Other than just to see what happens...

There's a pizza place in my town that makes unusual pizzas, one time I had a slice that had spicy black beans as pizza sauce, and it was covered with green onions, cheese, and Fritos. It was SO delicious. http://pieholeusa.com/

Love this house, but I think this tour would benefit from a floor plan or more wide photos, because I can't get any sense of how the rooms flow into one another.

You know that flash of a scene in Lost Highway where the main character's wife has been chopped into pieces and the pieces are all laid out in an OCD organized way? That's what his description of a kitchen made me think of.

Unfinished basements! When I was a kid, our house had an unfinished basement with a crawlspace that led to...dirt, which just made me think of nameless dead things coming out of it (and I'd never even seen the Evil Dead movies).

The basement also had concrete walls that had a pattern on them of the rebar used in constructing the house. So the basement looked like a big cage. Ugh, I still have nightmares about that house, 24 years later!

I really agree with the advice not to cover the walls with cabinets. I live in a cookie-cutter apartment with "builders' special" melamine cabinets and they cover every single inch of wall space--except for the 8 inches at the top where the builder thoughtfully added soffits to make them extra annoying.

Every inch of below-the counter space is covered with cabinets also: cabinets that are extremely deep and have non-removeable shelves cutting them in half, rendering them unable to hold appliances such as food processor, blender, etc. and making me crawl around on my hands and knees to get anything out of them. It also makes the possibility of installing cabinet pull-out drawers seem like a lot of work.

Sometimes I just want to go at them with a chainsaw.
