I've lived in cities for over 15 years, and am planning to move out soon. The suburbs scare the crap out of me! lol I'm so used to living in diverse communities and I"m just not sure how I will handle it all. My fiance and I have promised eachother to keep with our same simple life values and not start hording unnecessary material items. I couldn't agree more with SIMPLE! Eclectic and mismatched yard furniture found on the curb/garage sale/thrift store is great. Add a bunch of plants and I'm good. Dust/sweep hardwood floors once/wk Bathrooms (clean, scrub, mop) at least every other. More if I cut my hair and more when my BF acts like a slob..ok once/wk Vacuum upstairs every other wk. (not so much traffic up there) Mop kitchen every other sweep kitchen MANY times per/wk Put my BF crap away (every damn day!) however, I wreak havoc with my clothes on any given weekday morning. Please don't forget to drip water onto the hole your drilling. It get's hot and can cause a fire. The 2 in 1 drill guide and water drip can be bought at almost any hardware store and really helped me out. The clementine idea is cute. I'm not very traditional when it comes to Christmas decorations but I'm having a party and want to make it festive. I've stuffed some vases with holiday lights and hung individual ornaments off of ribbon from the tops of my windows. This was all quick and inexpensive but looks really pretty. I love antiques but I tend to collect one great piece and mix it up with other more modern pieces so the room has an updated look. This room doesn't seem to represent AT as far as I'm concerned. I had an awesome antique sofa (heavy as hell!) that I totally loved. Kept it for many years but eventually it just got to worn out. My in-law family is from Puerto Rico Roast Pork Rice and Beans Baked mac and cheese corn on the cob usually some sort of pasta or potato salad and lots desserts with coconut as a main ingredient.
