I can recall as a kid having a fantastic play kitchen. The stove was teal and had "real" burners and the oven actually worked in the finest of Easy Bake styles, it was good sized with a fridge and sink as well and my grandfather managed to hunt down a teal table and chairs in child size that looked like the old 1930's porcelain topped tables. He was (and at 85 still is) an auctioneer and had access to stuff most grandparents just didn't have. I'd love to replace that kitchen all over for my niece to play with now!

Its not bad...although the choice of wallpaper is making my eyes bleed a bit. I'm more concerned that this will be a re-do of all that tacky nasty contact paper people feel the need to slap on every surface. Hope they ain't renters.

A fast google search would have showed people the tradition of the Catholic Polish butter lamb. http://www.catholicculture.org/culture/liturgicalyear/activities/view.cfm?id=239

I have to agree, looks like a butter rat, but its still cute. They actually sell the lambs here at our local Price Chopper and the other stores. Oswego has a huge Polish decedents in our community and the tradition has spread through the entire area among the Catholics.

In my antiquing decorating family, mirrors are always called "eye of light" because they bring in so much light (or seem to). Mirror placement is such an old old desire. Placing them to the best effect is a science.

I'm all for trying the recipes, but during the cookie season let's keep in mind what these cookies support. The prices rise yes, but over the cost of ingredients and the cost of shipping them. They still are in the budget of most and should be bought when you can.

I'm torn. I don't bake much so wouldn't use it often, but the price wouldn't make me feel guilty. I do agree about the confusion on baking time, but the ideas for different shapes, modified checkerboards, space invaders, pixel pictures...oh dear.

I think at that price I'll learn how to use a hot glue gun on some wine glasses and fixtures first.

Wow Kate, that bites. I live in Scriba (just outside of Oswego) and we can have birdies and bees and etc. I live on rental property and even have permission to have as many birds as I like as long as I don't let them have the run of the place.

I guess I'd be even more impressed if it was a shake light and not battery operated. I do like it beyond that.

Many thanks for this. I live in the sticks of Upstate NY (Oswego) and since we get record cold and snow, I've stored outside for years. You reminded me though that since I have the space, I want to put in a root cellar. Not as major a project as it sounds, simple a nice deep hole with some hay and plywood to cover and Voila! Cold storage all winter that won't freeze!

Stews, soups, hotpots, all good, all fairly cheap and all yummy. Must be my French blood showing but I prefer a stew or soup most of the time, and like an good thrifty, I tend towards these items that my grandmother called "messes".

Noodle puddings have been around for a while. Not into them myself, but no one really expects a ton of comfort food in this regime do they?

I love them and the price is reasonable, but the sewer in me wishes she could find a pattern for these. They don't look hard to make...
