You can also use alphabet cards for your child's room to do the same kind of thing... not as personal but a way to use a deck of cards, especially if you've lost a few along the way. http://roomforyoungones.com/2010/06/15/julie-morstad-alphabet-cards-and-personalized-name-art/

Think the alphabet would be great as a modern border around the top of the walls (and would be fun to look at whilst in bed).

We are honored! Having been a fan of Ohdeedoh since it started, the inspiration we'd gathered from previous posts helped us create Baby Daley's room (#6, above). And all the positive feedback about Fionn's room prompted me to start my own blog, Room For Young Ones, a resource for (mid-century-inspired) design-loving parents and their kids. Would love your feedback and suggestions too! Thanks, Ohdeedoh.

One of my favorite nurseries. Amy- great work. I also featured the room on my blog a few weeks back! Special focus on the flag bunting, which I think is genius... and other places to get similar flag bunting patterns. http://roomforyoungones.com/2010/06/05/sincere-flattery-and-flag-bunting/ Take care.

So beautiful and original. I really appreciate that you didn't give in to the 'kids rooms need to look 'X' way' and went with your own personal style. Bravo. Especially love what you did with the sling bookcase - you totally un-cheesed it and it looks fabulous. Jaime (Room For Young Ones) http://www.roomforyoungones.com

I love this idea, but if it were my kid's room, I'd probably add a grommeted curtain & curtain rod to cover the space just in case things get a little messy... I recently wrote a post on my interior design blog about this 'open closet' phenomenon going on in nurseries and kids rooms, see it here: http://roomforyoungones.com/2010/06/01/door-free-closets/ Maybe I'm strange but the thing I love about closets is the fact that the stuff inside can get hidden if need be!

This is my favorite nursery in a long time - and I look at nurseries for a living ( www.roomforyoungones.com ). I think we share the same aesthetic; I second the 3potato4 reco and absolutely adore the lockers and chalkboard frame. I wish more people would consider vintage pieces in their young ones' rooms. Great job! Jaime

Love the Kaleido wallpaper. Just did a post on pink walls and pink paint, inspired by designs in the new Room For Children book. The best pinks, in my opinion, are those with a bit of lilac/blue tint. I absolutely love this room. Great colors and textures. One question- how did you attach the oilcloth to the wall? Did ordinary wallpaper paste do the trick, did you use a staple gun, or something else? It's a fantastic fabric - I'd love to use it myself. Jaime (www.roomforyoungones.com)

We have one in our son's room and it's come in really handy for things like stroller rain covers, extra toys, and swaddle blankets. It started life as a bathroom caddy, migrated to our bedroom, then moved over to Fionn's nursery. I love Ikea and Container Store, but this has lasted much longer than anything from either of those places. http://gallery.apartmenttherapy.com/photo/oh-daleynursery/item/69517

Weird. I just did a post on the seal and rabbit lamps too: http://www.roomforyoungones.com/2010/04/mid-century-lamps-and-uo-lounge-chair.html - they remind me of the old TV lamps you can get on Ebay. I bought an Offi for Fionn's room but it didn't work since day one. Having thrown out the packaging in excitement, I couldn't return it. I thought it had to be the halogen bulb, but replaced it since and no dice. Hopefully this was a one-off situation.

Wrote a post about this a while back - we use the disposable Munchkin pads on top of the fabric (sorry! but we don't need to get rid of it until there's a big mess). I also learned that the baby's cradle sheets fit a changing pad cover perfectly - they're the same dimensions. Doesn't help the laundry situation but can come in handy when baby's moved from the cradle to the crib and you have them left over. http://www.roomforyoungones.com/2010/01/quick-tip-cradle-sheets-for-changing.html

You can see the same crib in Fionn's room here http://roomforyoungones.blogspot.com/2010/02/our-new-flor-rug.html (or at Room Tours under Baby Daley on the left banner). To be honest, bumpers are sort of a non-issue with this crib, as I found there's no easy way to tie it onto these thick rails. My crib set came with both bumper and crib skirt and blanket. Luckily there are lots of companies that sell bedding by the piece now. (See this recent post on bedding as well) http://roomforyoungones.blogspot.com/2010/03/bw-bedding-frilly-to-mod.html . Jaime

Sometimes I think Ohdeedoh is watching my family... Just wrote a post about high-contrast (b/w) images and how they're thought to aid the developing mind; my husband's currently reading the book by Fernyhough as well.

I recently did a post on great wood desks, including one by Lorimer Workshop, which is run by our friend Josh's dad David Ellison. His desks are each handmade from salvaged wood and cost less than $1000 a piece. If you're interested, check out here on my blog http://roomforyoungones.blogspot.com/2010/01/great-desks.html or at www.lorimerworkshop.com
