I must confess ...
I have a real addiction for "vintage" audio and video from 60's-70's period
http://www.flickr.com/photos/teddy_qui_dit/sets/72157622584019059/
I find them mostly on Ebay or on various local websites in Netherlands or Germany ... (I live in Belgium ...)

Braun is my favorite brand, the minimal design (mostly from Dieter Rams) of this period is unsurpassed ...
and the sound is really as good as the units are beautiful ...
http://www.flickr.com/photos/teddy_qui_dit/sets/72157626508624765/
but there are also Wega devices designed by Verner Panton or Nordmende designed by Raymon Loewy, Grundig Audiorama and JVC ball speakers ...

I hope it will inspire you in your "vintage" audio research ...
and you enjoy the devices I have in my collection !

i own around 20 pairs of 70's speakers ...
(10 pairs of "ball" speakers)
vintage speaker dont need to be "big" to make good sound ...
and sound from this speakers have realy more color, character and personality than brand new ...
http://www.flickr.com/photos/teddy_qui_dit/4190293627/in/set-72157622584019059/

i also own more twenny 60's-70's design players or receivers ... (Nordmende, Weltron, B&O, Braun, Wega, Blaupunkt)
more than half have ipod connectivity (by aux input)
http://www.flickr.com/photos/teddy_qui_dit/4067347031/in/set-72157622584019059/
and it's a every day pleasure to listen music from this vintage sets ...

put a serie of objects drawn by Dieter Rams at the top of your list is an excellent idea ...
(But the one who is illustrated is not Braun Audio 1 ... It is a combination of TS45 control unit, TG60 tape recorder and L450 speaker )

That, it is an audio 1 (and it is mine)
http://www.flickr.com/photos/teddy_qui_dit/sets/72157622584019059/
Being an amateur and a collector of devices design by Dieter Rams it is an object which I owed possess
But being an amateur of vintage plastic, it is towards devices drawn a little later at the beginning of the 70s as that this that goes my preference :
http://www.flickr.com/photos/teddy_qui_dit/5099700997/in/set-72157622584019059/
As this combination of a receiver Braun Regie308 and a pair of loudspeaker Braun L308 ;-)

But the "vintage, audio and design" object which I would place at the head of my list would be my audio bar "wega 3300" drawn by verner panton (in 1963) :
http://www.flickr.com/photos/teddy_qui_dit/4146696455/in/set-72157622584019059/

But objects as that this, design, rare and often unknown of the public there have heaps he is enough to see the others who appear in my gallerie "Vintage radio&Tv collection" on my flickr page :
http://www.flickr.com/photos/teddy_qui_dit/sets/72157622584019059/with/4683161418/

Dieter Rams is a god for me and nevertheless I am not religious ...

"Non-flat screen TVs are pretty ugly" ... "héhé" ... I see this as someone who has never seen TV "design" ... as the designer knew how to draw in the 60's !!!
http://www.flickr.com/photos/teddy_qui_dit/4686678648/
" it's just one 70's Keracolor (UK) "

Dont hide your TV, just buy one nice and well design ...
such as "Téléavia" (French) designed by Roger Tallon in 1964 :
http://www.flickr.com/photos/teddy_qui_dit/4332039261/in/set-72157622584019059/
or those "Brionvega" (Italy) designed by Marco Zanuso and Richard Sapper in 1964 :
http://www.flickr.com/photos/teddy_qui_dit/4771510062/in/photostream/

at the time was more than TV ... was real objects ...
Now all these flat screen televisions are only lights boards in bright shiny black plastic ... I understand that many have wanted to hide!
( I also hide my 40" flat screen ! but I set across the house my old TVs )

Dont hide your TV ... especially when it looks like mine ;-)
http://www.flickr.com/photos/teddy_qui_dit/4686678648/

but I would not say the same thing if it was a TV of 90's
Unfortunately, everyone does not collect vintage TVs ...
and all the TV are not always so "design"

I find this an excellent idea ...
I already use these bulbs in all lamps at home with the bulb is not visible
this is now an alternative for certain lamp or bulb was seen ...

But of course the majority of CFL bulbs that we have still not found a really aesthetic form
those sparsam illustrated here are probably the most aesthetically pleasing I've seen, others are too often really deformed (a model that does not seem to appear in the catalog in the U.S.)

but fortunately we in Europe are beginning to appear models of LED lamps which are identical to our old traditional light bulbs
IKEA also offers halogen bulbs "Halogen" which have a lower consumption for more lighting that preserved the form of conventional bulbs :
http://www.ikea.com/be/fr/catalog/products/80175915

2 good alternatives for those like me who collect vintage lamp whose light bulbs are sometimes visible :

Mlle Kate, Leah Dc ... Thanks ... ;.)

SherryBinNH ... Indeed, everyone can see Christmas as he wants.
Some see the spirit of the tree in form, others in the function it performs in supporting ornaments.
I much prefer the idea of having created and built something that acts and acts over the years in keeping the spirit of Christmas without cutting down real trees to only use one month ... or to place an ersatz plastic tree in my living room ...

but I understand that those who remain throughout the years a traditional spirit of Christmas ... This certainly reminds so many good childhood memories ...

I live daily in an mix of vintage design and contemporary objects ... but i remain very happy with my "Modern" plywood tree in my livingroom.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/teddy_qui_dit/4198073422
(but I'll tell you a secret: I have a (big) tree outside ... with lights and balls, a survivor of a Christmas long time ago has been re-planted in my garden)

From Belgium ... my best wishes to all ...

I build mine with 2 (recovery) planks of plywood ...
cut to the shape of a "Modern Tree", pierced with holes for hanging balls and paint with white glazed paint for wood ...

if this can inspire others ...
I placed some pictures that speak for itself in my Flickr "D.I.Y" gallery:

" c'est noêl, mais quel gaspillage d'argent et d'énergie ! "
It is Christmas, but what a waste of money and energy !
While a part of the world tries to avoid wasting energy, it seems that others do not care!
http://en.cop15.dk/
is an action that is costly to children and grandchildren of many people around the world but this may be nothing for some other ... that's the spirit of Christmas

"all this to become a star on the web and become the king of the neighborhood"

So they continue to waste and consume without looking farther, the fall of some do will be harder after that ...

"Merry Christmas and Happy New years at all ... "
