Outside of your heat concerns, take the viewing angle into consideration before mounting - many over-the-mantle mounts are actually too-high for comfortable viewing. You don't want to feel as if you're straining your neck to look up at the TV.

Mr.M - the chair is from Room and Board (Carter glider); the ottoman is a random piece of furniture we had lying around the house. We wanted something that was washable and wouldn't show schmutz, so my wife made a set of simple brown linen slipcovers for the chair & ottoman. The best part is, when Hattie outgrows them, we can move them into any other room in the house.

Thanks for the nice comments. To answer a few questions (and adress the Audrey controversy):

Elo - the rug is Ikea. I can't remember off hand which one, but relatively inexpensive for an all-wool rug ($150 range for 5x8). And no fear with the white - dirt vacuums right out.

Audrey haters. Yes, we've read Breakfast at Tiffany's AND seen the movie. Yes, we know she was a prostitute. Yes, we're aware she's smoking in the picture. And we really could care less. It's a great iconic image. If Harriet does in fact turn out to be a cigarette-smoking-lady-of-ill-repute 18 years from now, you have our full permission to gloat.

Finally - to anyone who's on the wall about Walmart's babymod cribs... know that we had the same qualms about giving money to the big blue giant. But the crib rocks in style, and is rock solid in construction.

It's a little more contemporary than the picture you posted, but we have (and love) the Room and Board glider. It isn't as cheap as some of the other options, but it's nice enough to keep even after nursing:

I use one of this in lieu of a carport (connected to the house on one side and posts on the other), and absolutely love it.

The only word of warning I'd offer is to be careful in the winter, because they can collect ice during an icestorm.
