Not sure why my second link doesn't work -- try this instead http://www.nps.gov/hps/TPS/tax/index.htm , and then click on "About the Tax Incentive" link on the upper left side of the page.

I disagree with miss dbl a. The biggest problem with the historic tax credit is that it is very difficult for people to qualify for the credit. See page 4 of the FAQ (http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-utl/faqrehab.pdf) which states that only the portion of the rehab related to business use qualifies. There has been talk of revising the rules so that the credit would also apply to non-business uses, but nothing concrete yet... This is a much better summary of the Historic Preservation Tax Credit: http://www.nps.gov/history/hps/tps/tax/download/HPTI_brochure.pdf.

There is a shuttle bus that goes straight to Mitsuwa from Port Authority Bus Terminal. You can also get there via NJ Transit buses.

I moved from Inwood to Washington Heights and used NYCityVan. They were great -- super efficient, very friendly, careful with my stuff. They made the move very easy and they were very reasonably priced ($450 to move out of a studio). Also, they provided me with insurance certificates as required by my coop board. A friend used them to move from Fort Greene to Park Slope and he was happy with them as well.
