Please people, they're freakin' sandwich bags, for god's sake, not rubber tires or even plastic water bottles. Lighten up. I think they're great! (But then again, you're talking to somebody who collected the dryer lint from every family wash she did for a year-in plastic sandwich bags-and used it in her MFA thesis show...) I work in a mall right across from a Williams Sonoma, and on the level of eye candy, it's tortue. About all i can afford there are small items ( Weck jars) and their knife sharpening service- first time is free. That being said, most of my kitchen equipment has been handed down from friends ( a 15 year old Braun food processor, an All Clad pan), or purchased from the Salvation Army (a marble pastry stone for $5!), Marshalls, Target or Macy's, often the same items available from WS for less money, including a Wusthoff chef's knife. While i would love a Le Creuset dutch oven & a braiser, but for now my cast iron Lodge peices serve me quite well. My Uncool Kitchen Tool: A Not-As-Good-As-Le-Creuset Dutch Oven |

Hallelujah! Thank you so much for posting this! This kitchen is lived in, beautiful and REAL. I live in a rental apartment with a teeny kitchen, one set of cabinets above the sink, no drawers, two tiny strips of countertop (an appropriated butcher block prep table/island sits right outside the kitchen door), and a grungy linoleum floor that never seems get quite as clean as i'd like it...and i love every ungainly inch of my space! I also butterfly the chicken by cutting out the backbone, Jacques Pepin style, and roasting atop potatoes, onions & veg at a high heat. Rubbing softened butter mixed with herbs, garlic, salt & pepper under & over the skin makes for a delicious bird! Easy Dinner Recipe: Viking Chicken Recipes from The Kitchn |

I just made this tonight & it just seemed to be lacking something I used dried canellini beans which did get nice & soft and creamy. I used a chicken jalapeno & red pepper sausage, and did add one extra link (4 oz.), butit got lost. I feel like it needs something spice/herb-wise more than just bayleaf garlic, s&p. I liked the taste the cider vinegar added, but I still feel like it needs either soup herbs(marjoram, thyme Dutch Oven Recipe: White Bean & Chicken Sausage Stew Recipes from The Kitchn |

Lots of great ideas; haven't picked any favorites yet but...just wanted to say , as the proud renter of THE smallest kitchen in the USofA, some of these spaces are downright luxurious! I can't even fit a prep surface/eating space into my kitchen proper. (yes,it functions as both...when I don't eat perched on my bed!) Vote Now! Small Cool Kitchens Week 3 Small Cool Kitchens 2012 |
