ha! I would be so mad if I got a felt carrot. I used to get a little bit of candy (jelly beans and a choc bunny) but also simple snacks like a small bag of combos or a bag of homemade cookies or a popcorn ball. I loved having my own stash of goodies that I could eat when I wanted to. I would also get some new socks or garden gloves or an umbrella or jump rope/sidewalk chalk or some sort of crafty project or a book... It was a basket full of colorful favorite but inexpensive things... A Fun, Sweet (but Candy-Free!) Easter Basket |

I kind of agree a rug would look nice but I wonder how difficult that makes it for people to pull in their chairs? I'm currently considering getting a rug to put under my dining set and am hesitant for that reason. Homes need to function well and they have kids... First there is a difference between under the weather and totally incapacitated. I'll talk about the latter. Sick with children is impossible without help from a partner or hired help. Sick as a single person is also difficult...no one to pick up painkillers or soup or to drive you to the clinic or yes, to take the dog out when you are too weak. The point is that when people are incapacitated with illness, they need assistance. We all need to remember to help out with children, errands, and other impossible tasks when our loved ones need it. The popular book, The Happiness Project, mentions, and I paraphrase, that having images and memorabilia around of happy times creates and maintains happiness in the home. I believe this is true. I think it is easy to take our family and friends for granted. Having reminders of their importance and the joy they bring to our lives is a wonderful thing! I think some people feel like many personal photos are overly stylized or too showy....I see that sometimes....but more often than not I love photos of loved ones in every room. I grew up with a laundry chute in my home. Our first floor and second floor bathrooms were stacked and a large chute dropped clothes from the bathrooms (there was a swing door on the wall near the entrance) straight to the basement laundry room where there was a built in sorting area. I think all homes should have a chute and don't know why more don't. It is not expensive nor complicated and saves lots of time. Now if there was an easy way to get the clothes hung and folded and put back away... What Secret Is This Vanity Hiding? Thrifty Decor Chick |
