Or use Avent pacifiers: they come with a cap. It's an extra piece to keep track of, but as a first-time mom, it was worth it!

The Betty Crocker cake mix is great! I think it seemed just slightly too dry so I plan to add a little applesauce next time I make it.

My husband has a lot of allergies (wheat, soy, corn, chicken, garlic, mozzarella, tomato, brewer's yeast, malt, chocolate and pineapple), and while it's been a challenge learning to cook for him, I've really enjoyed it! It's forced me to learn my ingredients better because almost everything is cooked from scratch, and so I know what I substitute for what. While I do bring my favorite classic green bean casserole for Thanksgiving, I also plan to make a pumpkin pie and a cheesecake (both of which he loves) that he can eat. They should taste about the same as the store bought variety - probably better because they're homemade!

In other words, while it can be difficult to cook around dietary restrictions, it can also be a lot of fun - enjoy the challenge!

I loved reading Scary Stories as a kid, but thinking about them now makes my skin crawl. After reading the story about the ghost appearing in the mirror, I slept-walked for the only time in my life and for years afterward I could not be in a dark room with a mirror.

For some reason, I always remember being scared by the book Jumanji when I was very young.

We did this with our youth group in high school, and we always brought a bunch of sugar cookies and everyone got to ice/decorate cookies. Fun and tasty!

This soup sounds fantastic! One little thing I'd need to change: my husband is - unfortunately - mildly allergic to garlic, so I try to avoid it when cooking at home. I can (and have) just leave it out the recipe, but if anyone has suggestions for replacements, please let me know!

My sister and I grew up sharing a 12' x 10' room until I was 13. We had bunk beds at first, but later split them into 2 twin beds on each side of the room. My brothers shared a 10' x 10' bedroom with bunk beds, too. My dad built a bed that "hung" from the ceiling (it was also securely attached to the wall and had a bookshelf supporting the free corner). The other bed could go under it either parallel or perpendicular. If you have the know-how/time/whatever, that's an option for you.

This probably doesn't help much, but hopefully it's reassuring! You can have 2 kids grow up sharing a small room!

It sounds a bit tacky, but you can use contact paper. In a previous apartment, I used the fake wood contact paper in the panel inset on some junky, medium-brown cabinets. I only added it to the upper cabinets, so it really lightened up the space. And because I was so anal about how precise the panels were cut, you didn't really notice. If you looked closely, you would, but nobody noticed enough to look closely.

Oh, and as for "repainting," you can always use fabric and starch. I recommend washing the fabric first especially if you use a dark color. I had to repaint a wall because my dark red fabric left the wall tinged pink.

When we moved into a new house as a kid, someone had left a large blue Buddha statue in the attic. I promptly used it for a school project & lost it.

This is a beautiful space, but what caught my eye was the reversed book cover in the lower left corner of the top photo. Someone flipped the picture!
