I'm only 29 years old, and I just counted 23 moves in my life! Wow! And we're gearing up for another move in just a few weeks!

We've decided to sign a 2 year lease so we can at least count on staying put for 2 years! I'm getting a little tired of moving.

our must haves list used to be pretty long but after moving to LA and having to live in some places that barely met our "livable" requirements we have come to appreciate the small things. today our list looks like this:

-dog friendly
-lots of natural light
-safe neighborhood
-mostly quiet
-some character

we have let go of:
-washer/dryer
-dishwasher
-extra space (500 sq ft seems to suffice)
-closets
-central air
-second bedroom
-storage
-big kitchen (our current kitchen might not even fit me if I were to get pregnant! but we still love it)

I've been doing this for years for my dog, except I use old pillowcases to hold the rags. My dog loves it, the pillowcases hide what's inside, and it doesn't cost us a dime!

ha! glad to see it's finally been published! I was there almost two years ago assisting Tim Street Porter. Its just as over the top in person! The texture of the snake skinned bed is something I wish I had only experienced in pictures, ugh!

my upstairs neighbor would love it if we grilled inside rather than on our patio!

i love the walkability of our new place in West hollywood, I walk to work, Trader Joes, the w.hollywood park and library, and there are tons of great restaurants. I do miss the taco trucks and produce vendors on my old street in Koreatown, though.

big, big thumbs up! THIS is what small cool is about. Real people, real FAMILIES, living in small, creative spaces and being at peace with it.

re: "house on the prairie" - we should all pray for the return of an era where family values trump everything else (including a little lack of privacy, which probably leads to better moments than most people have behind locked doors)

Binge cleaner here! But I'm getting so tired of spending so much time cleaning on my day off! I really want to get in the habit of spreading out my duties so I can play more on the weekends.

your post just inspired me to get off the internets now and go clean something.

We give ourselves a weekly cash allowance, which my husband refers to as WAM (walking around money). It keeps us from using our debit cards on little things like a coffee here or a coffee there (which can REALLY add up!). Once the WAM is all used up we have to wait until the next week to start making those non essential little purchases again.

Works best with cash because you can tell yourself you'll only buy 3 deliciously frothy Urth Caffe lattes this week but if that little devil card, er, DEBIT card is in your pocket it's much easier to buy just ONE more (or two, you might as well round out the week, right?)

we live on the fourth floor, something we swore we'd never do again without an elevator. When we found this place we were told it had an elevator, we were not told that it only works 25% of the time!!
