David didn't mention this, but he does a sample sale at his DUMBO studio each December - you can go to his site and sign up to be notified. It's a great way to get one of his pieces.

It's interesting that the "living room" is the focus - we spend literally 95% of our time as a family in the den (where the shot of the whole family was taken). It's smaller than the room downstairs, but it's warm (an issue in an old house), cozy, and has become where we really "live" (note that the furniture in there takes abuse very well - the kids bounce off - and on - the cork tables, and their dad's coffee wipes right up!).

I appreciate your concern for the kids' right to access, but "the red zone" isn't off-limits when we're in it with them. Left to their own devices, the boys tend to use the sofa as a trampoline, and we've had some near misses between their heads and the marble table - should they collide at high speed, a trip to the emergency room would likely result (for the child, not the table). As for Coco, she does have a delicate nature.

Beautiful space. I especially love the partition wall. It has everything...privacy, translucency (good for letting light into railroad apartments), mobility/flexibility, and (key for small spaces) built-in storage! My one suggestion (and I happen to know that DWR sells a perfect one) would be to add a big mirror on one of the empty walls. Could look sweet next to the Adler cabinet, and would amplify the light and space. Nice!

I used Rabbit for my move a year ago, and was disappointed. The two guys they sent for my simple move (prepacked, 1 truckload of stuff, two blocks away, freight elevators in both buildings) were sloooooowww (cold molasses slow) until they cleared the two and a half hour mark. Once I told them that I would not pay more than their original quote of three hours, they started moving at lightning speed (they could have been done in an hour and a half if they'd been as motivated through the entire move). But...at least they didn't break anything.
