I'm not exactly sure what they're called, but I always called them "bottom-up blinds." They pull up from the bottom. If you have enough window height/height from the street, I think they would work perfectly--you pull them up high enough for privacy but still get light up at the top. When you need total darkness, you can pull them up all the way. Good luck!

Kool-Aid watercolors! Just take the powder and mix it with water to your desired translucency. Since you're not adding the the sugar, it's not sticky, and with the flavors, they smell great! Put those artificial dyes on paper instead of drinking them!

i spent some time in mexico and i encountered few shower curtains during my time there. the bathrooms were usually extensively tiled (all the floor and most of the walls, if not all), and a large drain in the center of the floor. a design that i witnessed frequently that may be of some assistance to you, is the toilet was generally set behind a small half wall (tiled of course. the other commenters have come up with some other good considerations, especially ventilation. oh, and there's the keeping the toilet paper dry...
