I always buy a small Hickory Farms type gift pack (sometimes more than one). It serves three purposes.

1. Emergency appetizer

2. Emergency gift

3. Awesome post-Christmas snack if not needed for #1 or #2

I make and take a lunch to work so I also have two baskets. One is full of everything needed to make a sandwich and the other is filled with everything that goes with a sandwich (single serve fruit, yogurt, cheese sticks, single serve hummus, cut up veggies, etc.) Makes lunch making a little easier and much quicker.

I would like to see a small framed picture of the "before" on the end table. Adds to the story….

I have come to accept (and now actally enjoy) two things in my life.

1. Waiting for an appointment. I have no control over this time and am forced to relax and read a book or something.
2. Sand in my belongings. A reminder that I got to go to the beach!

AT sort of posted the quote out of context I think. I originally read something similar awhile back in the financial section of the Chicago Trib. The article was about thinking about cost per use when making new purchases (such as building a new house). Similar to this:

As a teacher I'm never allowed to nail or tape anything to the walls (but am expected to have a ton of stuff displayed). For posters, paper and other lightweight items I've had tons of success with Teacher-Tape.

I am a teacher in a Chicago school and I am still using a Steelcase desk that I imagine has never left my classroom. Sigh.

Home Decorators Collection Outlet is having a pretty big sale. I've purchased from there before. The quality's not bad. I'd say on par with Ikea, maybe a little better....

I love Praha on Lincoln Ave. They have a nice mix of vonyage (usually Czech!) and new and the owners are lovely.

My friends are getting married soon and whilst looking through a gift shoppe she noticed a candle whose scent was "Wedding Day". He asked, "does it smell like fear with a hint of regret?" They argued the whole way home.

closertotheocean, I completely agree about taking an intro language course. However, I think after I learned to say "I would like....." in another language, I could point to the picture of the snow chains. Doncha think?
