I fly with my dog several times a year and it is definitely a stressful experience but altogether goes fine. The most annoying part is paying $100 each way when the airline doesn't handle him at all and he's considered my carry-on. I always make sure that he's had a lot of exercise beforehand and always get a window seat, so I can open up the bag and he has all the room at my feet to sleep and not feel so constricted. And we're out of the way. I wouldn't recommend feeding him flavored bones as the poster above suggested, I did that once and my dog was so dehydrated from the salt on the bone that he was panting. I had to give him water which you really want to try to avoid, nothing would be worse than having your dog pee in the bag on the flight. It's totally worth it though to have my little guy there with me when I travel.

I spent years and years traveling out of the country and completely missing the holidays so now that I am married and here for good I love everything about this time of year. My husband and I always exchange one ornament each year right before we get our tree. The night we decorate it, I make a huge pot of cheese fondue and we eat and get totally stuffed on melted cheese then get to work on the tree. It's the only tradition we have so far but I totally love it.

I agree that when you see something that was posted months ago that it's fine, but apparently they aren't reading their own website's posts from a couple days ago.

For those of you who are interested in this topic, and it seems like there are many, you should definitely read Barbara Ehrenreich's Nickel and Dimed. The author spends one year documenting her attempt to live and support herself while working low-wage positions. With just herself to take care of, she had a nearly impossible time eating healthily at all and with the amount of hours that she needed to work there was no way she was hitting up farmers markets or finding time to scout out supermarket sales. She's not a sociologist and was not necessarily trying to make a jab at our government's lacking assistance to the poor, but she did an excellent job of portraying just how hard everyday living can be for someone making such low wages. I highly suggest you all read it, it really provides a perspective to those of us who are lucky enough to be more fortunate.

We live in an apartment that is directly over a convergence of 5 very busy streets. It is incredibly loud. To sleep we must have the windows closed and we bought an industrial fan that works very well to drown out the street noise. Occasionally we hear late night noises, but the fan does a pretty good job of creating a noisy, but continuous sound to help us sleep better. My husband sleeps with earplugs, which he has done without any problems for 2 years. Good luck, if the apartment or location is great, it won't bother you a whole lot. It will be well worth the noise.

This is great. Before I was a dog owner I would have thought that this was absolutely ridiculous and silly. Now that I have a french bulldog in my life I know that he would absolutely love this funky little dog bed. In the winter we have a heat lamp to keep us warm and he spends the majority of the day right in front of it, it has to be at least 100 degrees there. So as silly as it may seem to some people, this would be the best gift I could ever get for my dog. If the price is right, I'll be buying it right away!

The mandarin chicken is great when you don't have time to cook a meal. I also love their pre-grilled chicken for those of us apartment dwellers who don't have the luxury of a barbeque. It's perfect for salads, making fajitas, stir fry........
