Red accent wall. The red squares just caught my eye.

Seriously. If we could all afford to spend $900 for a lamp alone then you'd have to change the site's name to mansiontherapy.

My hubby's grandfather was a man of few words but he had family photos hanging up everywhere in his home. When you visited his home, you could just feel the love :)

Oooooo, I like it too! Maybe you could make something similar out of a black-painted bicycle rim & misc. lighting hardware.

Cute, cute:) I love that blog but if I spend too much time there I get major hipster-twee overload;). I probably wouldn't use the lace b/c then you wouldn't need a flashlight..... My kiddos are not much interested in play tents anymore though <sigh>.

Makes me smile. I think you have to look @ the intention. Vandalism is usually done to deface or ruin- clearly not the purpose here. When I was 14, I was on a trip to Hamburg, Germany & one night "vandals" spray-painted smiley faces all over the city. I was enthralled & I still smile thinking about that (I'm 35 now).

I like it. It's minimalist w/o being boring. You're right those kitchen cabinets are yuck- you should ask your landlord if you can paint them, maybe he or she would let you if you agreed upon a color in advance. I've also seen people affix fabric or another material to paneled cabinets (removable obviously). Also maybe try waterproof floor cloths for the kitchen flooring/cat issues. Just a few thoughts.... exposed brick & hardwood floors though. {sigh} what more could you ask for? :)
