Ha ha ha, b., hilarious. I, personally, find pretentious, judgemental and self-righteous people to be "offensive" (why put quotes around a "term" when it is used as the definition intended?- in this case, "parents" actually applies to the people who have offspring/spawns. Ironically, this is also how Webster defines the "word" "parents").

I have a child, and I thoroughly enjoy her individualism, creativity, and her "equality". While I am inherently her elder and like to think of myself as wiser, she is no less important than me and the space we share in our home is just that- shared. I guide her, I train her, and I instruct her, but I am not a dictator, I do not rule her, and I teach respect by showing her respect, as well as those with differing opinions from mine.

PS. If my daughter created on a couch that rocked as hard as this one, I would display it proudly- although, I might use a clear plastic cover (I know, more complicated logistics) to protect its users from the inevitable bleeding.

I know that a specific green logo'd coffee shop is unpopular for many reasons, not the least of which is the trend of hating big business, but they act in direct opposition to this.

I worked for SBux for 4 years while finishing my undergraduate degree and each night, no matter what remained, all of perishable food goods are donated to a local charity. Each evening the food is accounted for and inputted into the computer as a donation, and various charities come by after close to pick-up and distribute the remaining food. Many times this included their gourmet sandwiches, salads, or plates and ALWAYS included the muffins, danishes or breads.

It can be done, if the organization is interested in such a contribution.

Sort of unrelated:

Is anyone else experiencing the margins recentered in the middle of the page, taking priority of the original post? I see the blog list running down the page, which I can discern between the lines, with the exception of the black box claiming "1% for the planet member". Anyone?

Frusterating, and I can't fiqure out how to correct it.

What a great optical illusion this rug provides with scrolling down! It took me a few minutes (that might be attributed to my exhaustion or compromised brain), but I am pleased with the discovery.

I know and love Shelley very, very much and this tiny room is a great example of her impeccable style and creativity. If only she could show the world the brilliance of the rest of her house, including the hand made dress made of beautiful magazines ads on display, or her collection of vintage dolls on display in the room we plan to violate the fashion world, or perhaps her beautiful living room filled with her art and re upholstery.

I love you, lady!! Great work, on this room and the rest!

I have a ridiculously random-angled home, with high ceilings and uncomplimentary pot shelves. In my living area alone, there are at minimum 3 angles on each wall, 2 opposing pot shelves and a southwestern theme (not the good kind) on the architecture. I, also, am on a very limited budget and have no concept of complimentary styles (I love the Hollywood Regency look as well as the Danish modern), creating a challenge on the cohesion front.

I am not sure there is a greater challenge or a more challenging person in dire need of help. Plus, I would really appreciate it.

Thank you!

Thanks, Holly. Your home is beautiful and your post rejects my theory, thankfully. I feel much better utilizing AT as a source for creative design.

After all the posts related to the intricate drains, though rather irrelevant to its purpose, I am suspicious. Is AT getting promotional funds from JCPenny's? Admittedly, the house is beautiful, but nothing being touted from The Linden Street line is exceptionally great in design or execution. I don't understand?

I may be turning into one of those conspiracy theorists, but AT lost some credibility in my humble and extraneous opinion. Or perhaps I spent too much time on this site?

What a bummer. I was really starting to adore this site (I suppose I still do), but the obvious product placement is disconcerting? What else has been inconspicuously promoted as great design, when it's in fact an impractical, useless item at a highly inflated price exchanged for advertising profit?
