First off, I love Milwaukee, and it's great to see a house tour from there. An outside/neighborhood shot would have been nice given the time taken to describe the outside of the home and the contrasts between interior and exterior. Enjoyed the writing much more on a second read through than the first, but the quality of the photos and the rest of the tour more than made up for that. Not sure what it was, but I could tell she was new. I'm sure with more posts she'll solidify her voice, and I'd be great to see more from her.

And I've said this before, but I wish more took the time to add captions to their photo slide shows. It really adds a lot to be able to know what you're looking at (room wise, how it relates to the other rooms/the design philosophy of the owners, or where a particular piece came from)!

I love so much of what they've done...the letters, the colors. Yum. However, and this is more a general AT comment than just for this post, but I wish more posters took the time to add captions to their photo slide shows. It really adds a lot to be able to know what you're looking at (room wise, how it relates to the other rooms/the design philosophy of the owners, or where a particular piece came from)!

They're good, though the ones they are selling now look slightly cheaper (aka more plastic, less metal) than the one's they've been shilling in year's past. And the light looks fine if you get the right bulb for it.

I think that floater stand is hideously clunky looking compared to the FAR cheaper Book Arc. Why anyone would even consider spending $300 on a stand is beyond me, especially when they perform identical functions and take up the same amount of desk space.

I do this with my painter friends from art school ALL THE TIME. my right-out-of-college walls were covered in beautiful original canvases that the artists simply had sitting around. the deal is, if they sell the piece, they can take it off my wall no questions asked, but until then (and it hasn't happened but once, actually) I have great art!

I would definitely add the color bar along the bottom...my thought was either that or lower the curtain so it does just hit the floor...because the space looks accidental to me, not planned (like, oops, these weren't quite long enough!).

That said, the place looks lovely, and I too would love to see a full house tour!

Thanks, I actually found it myself after enough searching! Bonus, for those just checking these comments: You can link directly to the original source files (and they're big!) so these could easily be printed out on some nice paper to make some totally awesome wall art!

Where IS that first map? I love that one and would totally plunk down for it (not that the wonderful info graphics aren't also super neat too)!

i personally like the square (especailly how the strut looks in that comp). the fit is indeed perfect, and, from what I can tell, how you treat the rest of the room will keep it from being too square and "rigid" perhaps some round side tables...or, assuming the mag table becomes a side table. or, perhaps counter the more rectilinear lines of the sofa and table with an arco-like light (or the mega tolomeo) swooping overhead...

i agree - center the bed beneath it and use it as a headboard...i lived for two years in a room that was once a sunroom and had painted over french doors that led into another room. I used the doors to function as a extended headboard above my low IKEA malm bed.

you could upholster some cool fabric to fill the whole space....or paint it....or just hang a collection of smaller art in it.

Placing the bed in front of the door would also cut the awkward full length of the door on the blank wall and, from the looks of it, your existing chair rail would still be visible, which I think is a nice detail to work with in terms of a bedside vignette.

i love the architecture, dislike the furnishings. Perhaps it would work as a vacation home furnished so sparsely, but I'd like to see it a bit more realistically furnished!

i'm thrilled to see UMA, a store based in St. Louis' resurgent downtown and that has a lot of great stuff, featured on AT...though a bit baffled that it comes from the LA site. Not dwelling on that, though! Check them out!
