be careful bringing pallets into your home. a friend of mine did their own diy project and the pallets had wood mites in them.

did they pay donna wilson or are they just ripping her off? i've also seen numerous people on etsy make that log pillow...wouldn't be the first time. http://www.regretsy.com/2012/01/24/hm-is-awesome/

wow this is very timely to me right now- my boyfrend and i are moving out of our 400 square foot apartment. i always thought we didn't have much stuff, but i was amazed at the amount of things we were able to throw out or give away, and still it seems like we have so many boxes...
i always think of a ny times article that was about a growing movement of people practicing extreme anti-materialism- not buying anything except food and other things that were absolutely necessary- does anyone else remember that article?

sorry- to be clear- you can have the handle-less look with soft-close operation, but if you want soft-close you shouldn't use touch latches and should use finger pulls or some other kind of cutout to grab the door/ drawer front. if you want the almost seamless look without the finger pull recesses, you'll want to use touch latches and should forgo the soft-close.

they're called touch latches and finger pulls. handles/ pulls or lack there of have nothing to do with soft-close operation, that's built into the hinges or drawer glides

bless you if you want to buy one of these, because most of them are pretty horrid. at least there are a couple that look like they are just a slipcover you can take off and throw away. i think it's a shame the designers didn't try harder, or maybe this just goes to show that you can't really improve upon a classic like the swan chair.

reminds me of these installations done in an abandoned Detroit house by teaching fellows at University of Michigan's College of Architecture.

Wonderful! Bright, airy and serene. Yet I have the classic apartment therapy complaint - how about more picture of the actual space and not just the furniture? It's called a house tour, not a stuff tour.

i think they mean 24" of space per chair- or another way to say it would be 24" from center to center of each chair.

and now i'm even angrier to learn that it is Northwestern University that wants to tear this building down. A fancy private school whose tuition is $40,000+ can't afford to adaptively reuse this building? total crap.

it would be a sad, sad day should the city of Chicago let this building be torn down. It may not be Marina City, but it would be a shame to tear down the building of an architect that was so instrumental in giving Chicago some of its most iconic buildings. Especially since it has become such an important destination to see great architecture. Buildings are one of the ways we measure the values of a civilization. What does letting great architecture go to waste say about us?

I think a dark gray, slate colored tile would look good with the green. maybe paint the walls a brighter white and the bathroom won't be too dark. or white would work as well, but ditto the dark grout comment. or if you want to be more adventurous you could do a mosaic tile that has some similar green shades in it.
