I think in this case, the takeaway is more the idea than the recipe. Absolutely no reason you have to use a box mix! The technique, which is basically just putting fondant letters into the batter, would work for any homemade cake, too. The Typography Birthday Cake: It's a Cake That Talks To You! |

CupofNimbus, I think the idea here is that there's a resurgence in cocktail-making all around the country, particularly of the unusual or artisanal (ack! I said it!) variety. So, these cocktail choices are going to be a little out of the ordinary, and they're meant to be, I think. Pearmelon, yes, of course that often happens! I think the difference in this case was that it was clearly not a result of them being behind or unprepared. There was nothing frantic about it.
