Hi all, that's my place, thanks for all of the feedback. Sorry for the double post, I sent in two different questions about curtains and trim hoping one would be answered, and after a few weeks they both were.

So a quick update, the trim is being stripped by professionals as I write, got an amazing price but it doesn't include the hutch, that will have to be a future project. I am going to see it all in its natural state tomorrow at which point I decide whether to keep it natural or paint.

The professional assured me he would use a primer that actually protects the wood underneath if I do decide to paint, so that in the future I or a different owner could revert it back wood, although it certainly wouldn't be cheap or easy.

I'm still leaning towards white because bright and airy is much more style than dark and cozy. I bought this building (my first) in part because I do really love the vintage details and character of the place, however my style is not victorian and I'm not trying to re-create the era. I have seen some pretty amazing interiors done with Victorian buildings that blend vintage details with more modern styling (and always with crisp white trim). When it's done right it can pretty fantastic.

I'll send in a picture of the natural trim after I see it tomorrow for reference, and I'll be sure to send in a photo of how it ends up. But this place will be a work in progress for quite some time, so it may be a while before I can show results that I'm proud of.

Thanks again!

That's my kitchen, thanks for all the great comments and suggestions.

Wood trim is off limits, though for the record I would paint it white if allowed.

I would love to switch out the light fixture but there are two problems, 1) it would need to be replaced on move out and there is no where to store it in the mean time, and 2) won't the ceiling be in bad shape where this fixture is attached? So I would have to repair and paint the ceiling, and replace the fixture, and return it all back to existing when I move out.

I think I will try one of the diffusing screens mentioned, and I already switched out the bulbs which helps some.

Finally, and sadly, I already painted! I went with a buttery yellow (because you know, kitchen...yellow...), Ben Moore's Hay Stack which I'm not incredibly happy with. I think this blue would be fantastic, funny thing is I painted an accent wall in my living room the exact Birds Egg blue recommended by AT. But oh, how I now want it my kitchen.

Well, I'll post pictures on Flickr once it's presentable, in the mean time I'll wish my kitchen was blue until I find the motivation to re-paint!

I'm with Juliejulie as well. There seem to be endless home design resources out there for those with money and space. Of course inspiration can be found everywhere, but AT is great for finding it in slightly more obscure or challenging situations...

I've been awaiting a post like this, as I am in the exact same situation, with a slightly smaller bedroom. I'm glad to see the co-sleeper is working for youm I wasn't sure if I needed a full crib.

What do you think about a changing table? Or a changing area on top of a regular dresser? What do you do about clothes storage for you and your baby? And do you have some kind of chair/rocker for feeding?

Any tips on what you need and what you don't would be great.

Thanks!
