There is a beautiful example of yellow and gray in this month's InStyle magazine with Cameron Diaz on the cover. The room inside has gray walls with a strong white crown moulding, and cheery yellow curtains. It looks beautiful!

It's not Memorial Day without peonies. If you grab them from the garden, watch out for ants!

Those ranunculus are a beautiful color, but I don't prefer that flower. Their slimy, limp stems and greenery freak me out.

As a land-locked midwesterner, I am so jealous of those with ready access to cheap, fresh mussels. I would love to clean, debeard, and cook these up someday! Thanks!

I'm Scarlett, no doubt. I'm definitely going to throw it away, I just have to look at it one last time to make sure I don't need it. Which I will do tomorrow, or this weekend, or whenever I get the time.

I agree with banister. The photos of the mom's outsider art are charming and all, but I want to see the house!

I appreciate that the art hanging system allows them to switch out pieces easily, but I hate the way every painting is tilted off the wall at a different angle. I imagine the frames clattering against the wall when the air conditioning kicks on. It's distracting, it just looks unstable.

You have created so much space with little square footage, one of the best I've seen. I love the subtle effect of all the moulding, and the art is so cool! Great job.

I love the yellow bed and the color of the walls in the hall. Beautiful, what is it?

I love the bones and some of the design elements are really clever and cool, but predictable for the space. I would love to see what someone could do with this apartment and a ban on bamboo, black leather, and chrome.

I loved everything except for the rustic, unfinished living room, but who am I to argue with the NY Times.

Don't listen to anyone who tells you to just get in there and start taking it apart and cutting wires, unless you've got the time and money to replace the entire unit. I like the professional electrician recommendation.

I think the exposed brick wall in the dining room is begging for a super cool sideboard. Also the pile of stuff in the corner looks either affected or sloppy depending on your viewpoint. I love the green in the bedroom though, very pretty!

I agree with everyone about the kitchen. I love your style but that antique sitting on on top of the kitchen cabinet looks weird and is not pulling it together. Changing out the tract lighting and taking the doors off the kitchen cabinets would go a long way toward working this space in with the rest of the apartment. Otherwise, very cool, good job!

I'm with you -- I don't care where it comes from, I'll drink ANY Reisling and love it. By far my favorite wine. Thanks for this.

I agree with Paul. Rugs out of scale really bother me, better a bare floor than an awkward rug. I agree with the others about the kitchen cabinets (the repeat of the stripes seems kitschy), and would paint the ceiling in the bedroom white to make it less cavelike, but otherwise I love your color choices. The bones of this space are beautiful and you have shown them off well. Great job!

I absolutely love your pieces and your taste. Your use of color is great but I also (tactfully I hope!) agree with the comments that it feels a little "close." When I look at this I am reminded of the old advice to remove one accessory from your outfit before you leave the house. It seems that every area could be improved by editing out one focal piece, as someone else mentioned the rug in the bedroom. Otherwise, it's gorgeous, great job!

It woke me up at 5:40 AM in Indianapolis, Indiana. I thought my daughter was climbing into bed with me. This is the third earthquake I've felt in the 34 years I've lived here -- all three were minor but it's a very distinctive feeling! I knew right away it was an earthquake. I was driving later in the morning so I didn't feel the aftershocks.

I see your boiling water, and raise you toasting bread in the toaster, which sits 20 feet away from the smoke detector. Mine is also hardwired into the electrical, and the only thing that kept it quiet was breaking the speaker.

Worst -- chips and salsa, or cereal and milk. But that is because I don't usually sit at the table to eat and read, but on the couch.

I'm with you, mia. It's okay to slaughter and process healthy animals, but slaughtering and processing injured animals that would otherwise be shot and thrown away is sickening?

I came to comment on the stickers too! I swear I can remember what every last one of those smelled like. I miss the skunk and the grape, though. Scratch-n-sniff, sigh.
