@Faith Durand: Made this tonight....delicious, but very very dry. I don't know much about casserole science, but do you think that the lowfat dairy products I used are to blame? If not, any other suggestions?

"would *not* have been able to make otherwise" I meant. :)

PrettyKitty, I own a small business and we announced that we'd be donating all of our profits from Sunday's sales to AmeriCares.

Yes, our sales were boosted relative to a typical Sunday, and AmeriCares was the sole beneficiary of that boost. If people were considering patronizing my business, they had the option to do so on Sunday, knowing that any profit we made was going to be donated to AmeriCares, and far more people visited on Sunday than usual. So now I can make a sizable donation to AmeriCares that I would have been able to make otherwise. I'm not seeing what's disgusting about that.

I recommend tempering your chocolate before adding it to whatever nut product you use; it will ensure that your spread stays emulsified; just add it in all at once and stir quickly!

No oil is necessary to prevent solidifcation, assuming a reasonable ratio of nut to chocolate. The natural oil in the hazelnuts will be more than sufficient to keep the spread...spreadable! However, I do add a bit of softenend fresh butter to make the texture even more luscious.

(I make a Chocolate Hazelnut Spread at my chocolate shop :))

Thanks to everyone so far!

RichardinLA, that is brilliant, beautiful, and very similar to the aesthetic I am hoping for! What do you have behind the curtains? A shelving system? Drawers? Are the kitchen cabinets a good size for clothing items or are other things stored in there?

Oops. I am such a loser for not thinking of mousing over the "Distribution Network" link...thanks for not mocking me. :) I guess I was in a hurry and looking for "Stores" or "Retailers" and Molteni never answered my e-mails, probably because my question could have been easily addressed by the site!

Anyway, so yes, less expensive attractive closet suggestions would be great! Thanks!

i'm all for hand-mixing for the tactile experience, but stand mixers are time-efficient, because you can be doing something else for your recipe while the mixer is doing the manual labor...

also...has anyone ever made italian meringue by hand?

My favorite candy is Cadbury Creme eggs, but they are so perfect on their own, that incorporating them into any kind of dessert would be a step in the wrong direction.

A close second would be jelly beans, so I'm thinking I'd make a Meyer lemon curd tart, and fold some chopped up jelly beans into the curd for a surprising crunch, then top the tart with torched-Italian meringue-and-jelly-bean decorations.

We've got an apartment-sized, non-IKEA, non-sectional version of a pullout-bed-with-storage in black leather and it has been the saving grace of our 350-sq-ft 1-bedroom apt. Our two small closets are at capacity (who told a triathlete and a chef to move into 350 sq ft?), so a comforter for guests plus an additional set of sheets and towels simply wouldn't fit.

Thanks to our pullout-with-storage, we keep guest bedding and towels in the storage space underneath, and we've had friends stay overnight with us on several occasions! Then in the mornings, we have to wake them up to fold the bed out of the kitchen to make coffee! :)

I love to cook dinner for friends and entertain at home, so an open kitchen makes sense. That way, I can remain social throughout the evening without limiting my menu to make-ahead items!

I am also a huge proponent of the clean-as-you-go school of cooking, so large quantities of leftover pots and dishes are never a huge issue for me. Besides, if the kitchen is open, I can wash the dishes and chat at the same time!

I made this salad last night, but used bulgur wheat instead of couscous for some whole-grain action, and added a bag of wilted arugula for some green. I'll be eating it for lunch all week and I couldn't be happier! :) Super-healthy and delicious! Thanks!

just curious...why do you toss with spices after roasting as opposed to before? wouldn't pre-spicing lead to a deeper flavor?
