I finally stopped by this store last week and was really impressed with the stock -- 7-pc Paul McCobb dining set, the AWESOME Hans Olsen dining room set that everyone (including me!) loved from one of the Small Cool posts this year. I have to say, though, that the prices seemed really exorbitant, even for meticulously restored mid-c pieces. I've been hunting for that Hans Olsen set and was so excited to find it, but he's asking $4500 (!!!), which seems like a lot (one recently sold on eBay for $2500). Case in point: Room Service is charging $120 for an enamel bowl that a friend and I found last weekend at the Edgewater Antique Mall for $40. When I asked the guys at Edgewater what they thought of Room Service they told me that they suspect the owner is hoping that customers aren't savvy enough to know that these pieces are available elsewhere for less money (to those willing to do a little digging around). Our usually-well-behaved mutt managed to eat a carton of eggs (yes, and ENTIRE carton) in the time it took us to run back to the car for a second trip of groceries. (Okay, so I chatted with my neighbor for a few minutes..) At that point all we could do was wait and see what it would do to his digestive system. Even though much of the mess -- though sadly, not all *sigh* -- was limited to the yard and the mudroom, it wasn't pretty...
