I did a Tim Burton inspired room for a teenage client once. It' was really fun! You can see it here

A Taste of Haiti by Mirta Yurnet-Thomas

It's a really good book that I have. The author also included a little history and information on when the food is generally cook, on what occasion, etc.

In this case, I'd go with the black chairs.

How about a color from the mortar between the brick? Looks like a taupy-grey. I would contrast well against your dining set.

A shade like this one from Urban Outfitter could work (I don't know if they still carry it there)

Ideally, hire a designer or decorator :)

Next to that, come up with a list of things that don't work and a plan to solve your issues than come up with a plan together.

Looks like you need lots of clever storage, paint the whole place, get rid of what's not important and don't obstruct the windows.

I agree with msjessiemeghan. There's not enough space for more chairs. I think a nice sage green would go well on the wall and perhaps a light fixture that better relates to your dining set. If you have a nice large painting or photo, it could be nice to have it at the wall facing the windows (?)

For me, using bio*life (a plant derived soap infused with essential oils) makes my cleaning more enjoyable. I guess it's normal that something that smells good puts you in a good mood so you're more likely to do good. It's king of like aromatherapy.

I agree with Blandwagon. It would be better to find another place to hang the photo because the fireplace is already a piece of art in itself it would clash. If you absolutely want to put your wedding photo in this room perhaps another wall could work, or maybe a smaller table top frame on a side table would be better.

Take the time to look at the numbers in details before you do anything major.

How much will you need to start? What will you month to month cash flow will be the first couple years? Where will the money come from for you to start? What's your market like? How long can you survive with no sales? How much money will be in your pocket once you paid everything (rent, salaries, taxes, etc.) What's your back up plan? etc.

It's tedious but it will save you in the long run. If you're not good with numbers, get someone who can help you (hopefully a friend or family member so you don't pay much).

Good luck!

The Living Wall looks rather dead. Pretty grim. Maybe a backup irrigation system would help. I imagine this didn't happen overnight. It's too bad something wasn't done earlier.

Nice job! I like the brick wall for the fireplace. How do you get to the wardrobe on the second level in the bedroom?

It seems like two color schemes are fighting one another.
- I would get rid of the shiny salmon curtains and pillows. They seems out of place with the rest of the space.
- I would go more along the scheme of the green cushions on the opposite chairs for a more natural look. It will go much better with your new sofa, the wood floor and door.
- I would get rid of the white side table. It doesn't fit with the room either, it's too feminine and delicate for this room.
- The TV shelve is too skinny. Something bulkier would work better. Perhaps a wall unit as suggested earlier.
- The paint on the window wall has a bit too much purple in it. Something more earthy would work better.
- I would use a larger rug as well.
- Is there any lighting in the room? You might want to use a couple table and/or floor lights.

This looks neat, specially for families with tons of things to do. Magnetic chalkboard would work great too.
