I hate to sound churlish (although I often do), but what has happened to the Cool part of Small Cool?

Daniel's apartment is perfectly nice, but it looks like almost every other apartment featured on AT. The International Winner looks the same. So does last year's winner.

Have AT readers and voters become individually more conservative, or does the increase in numbers voting create mediocrity?

Surely you guys can appreciate something more than bland, kind of funky, kind of quirky, kind of MSM?

Check out the wonderful small homes here for inspiration:

Ewww. Not a single piece I would endure, let alone wish for.

SF has gone downhill.

Judging by those photos, the trick seems to be to make the houses of divorced men look like every other home featured on AT.

Nice pseudo-niche.

I can understand Todd Selby being a spokesman for 'undecoration', but AT?

The aesthetic here is usually the polar opposite.

Assuming this isn't a joke (and if it is it is funny) I'd start by actually showing said table in all it's glory.

I'm trying to picture what would make a table uniquely autopsy-esque and the best I can come up with is a height adjustable island bench with channels to contain the gore.

In which case it would make a dandy carving station for an industrial kitchen.

Given the tumbleweeds that greeted my last diatribe on this subject, I suspect I am a voice in the wilderness.

And I know that the contributors here are enthusiastic amateurs rather than cynical professionals.

And, for all I know, the blog owners are possibly editing said contributors so that they all have the same hyper-enthusiastic voice to encourage a folksy feel.

But it is wrong.

I feel like every House Tour these days is written by a highly enthusiastic Labrador.

Sit!

Describe the house. Not the putative personality of the owner.

Let the house speak for itself.

Shhhh!

I'm assuming the screed in this tour was meant to be a facetious take on the excesses of most design writing.

If it was meant to be serious, please stop it.

Oh give me a break. You're critiquing a guy resting his feet?

How about critiquing someone who can't find a simple rug?

Oh give me a break. Look at the photo. Then place your hand over it so that it cuts off the double height windows.

Now take out the centrally framed back yard and the cool black concrete floors.

All that done, do any of you seriously think any of these suggestions would work in any other space but this one?

Or that the bookshelf wallpaper would a) look good in the room above, b) look good in your place or c) can be substituted for $99 birch murals from Target?

I have a recent LG. They are generally regarded as the best all in ones.

But it doesn't dry very well.

The design means they can't dry as well as a traditional dryer.

It will dry well enough that you can hang the slightly damp clothes for a while to finish the job, but you will not get crisp, warm, fluffy dry clothes like from a trad dryer.

Paying a lot does not change this

Most of the places you've linked to are not minimalist.

The first is. And the Spanish one.

The others are merely not over-stuffed.
