The room is so peaceful. Love it! Is the Behr Spa the paint that's on the ceiling only, or are the walls the same color too?

Hahaha... so it isn't just me!

@hooloovoo,
"So, if the restaurant isn’t classy enough to chop your salad properly, take a knife to it."

This is a great suggestion, though, is it appropriate to be silently, patiently cutting your salad for 5 minutes while everyone else is indelicately digging into their beautifully arranged salad?

There is this one Thai restaurant that serves up the starter salad with very big iceberg lettuce leaves (no like!) piled really high on a very small plate. I invariably spill the julienned carrots everywhere, and manage to finish the salad only because no one else is at the restaurant, so I proceed to stuff it in anyway I can.

Yeah... I just checked the Target site too, and it's $35. They probably wised up to all the DIYers swarming the stores to buy out these rugs.

Maybe if the fabric used was black in color like the one in the first picture?..... No... still no. They both look unfinished and very very far from the sleek lines of the Tullsta chair.
@Emika.. this really does look like Kotex, now that you mention it. Thanks for the laugh :)

Seems like the problem is that the backsplash tiles are too shiny for the pink countertop. Maybe something more matte OR darker gray to match your cabinets. Gray + pink should be a good look.

Agree with missizzy. #7 is unexpected and spectacular. I could leave the rest of the house bare, and that view would still be enough decoration.

I agree with the other commenters above, that you might need to get to know your GPS better and/or update the mapping software ... my GPS has come in handy in the middle of thick, dense forests (think Washington/Oregon border), and on scenic byways in South Dakota and little no-name streets in the middle of Vermont cheese country. I find my GPS really liberating because it allows me to take unplanned detours knowing full well that it'll lead me back to wherever I eventually need to go.

Yeah, why would anyone think we sleep with a cell phone close to us because of a need for *communication*?! What are we doing, mumbling in our sleep to update Facebook statuses? Same here as the article suggests - as my alarm clock, my only phone, and night-time flash-light.

I'd go with the same shade of blue that you see glinting off the windows on the second floor.

I just moved out to my first apartment too, and I've been agonizing about poking holes in the walls even though my landlord has said any holes 'smaller than a golf ball' are okay. I bought the really small command hooks for frames, keys and put a couple of them up, followed instructions and gingerly placed a light wall clock on one of the hooks. It seemed to stay.... for 2 days. Third day I came home and found my clock on the floor.

I agree with DipDipDive... looks to me like your (excellent) table's wood has so much character, you might want to paint the chairs something totally different (blue, white, coral..) so it doesn't remain brown and end up clashing with the table.

My initial thought was if you got some lightweight wood, painted it the same shade as the walls and screwed them on somehow, you would be okay.

But seeing as how you can't cover them up (possibly because the outlets are in use?), I would suggest going with a lot of decorative items in the same shade of white as the walls - some vases, frames, seashells, baskets that you re-appropriate from flea market finds.

A simple metal pipe about 3 feet up, in the same tone as the base of the steps should do it. One anchor at the top, one anchor where the stairs turn, and one at the bottom will maintain the airy feeling.

And some potted plants or books / tchotchkes on the other edge (in the last photo) to make sure people know where the stairs begin, saving them from accidentally walking off a precipice.
