Hong Kong is extremely over-crowded, but that is but an exaggeration of the situation. Still, tall buildings are a necessity there, and space is a luxury that we often forget while living in the more "spacious" parts of the world.

I always liked the first one, the one from RH; but the description says it is made from unsealed metal, and the resulting rust might stain your sheets. I guess it's not so practical for long term use.

Chalk markers would make it easier to dust, and will only come off with water. Chalk will smudge very easily.

I think you've made the right choices. Industrial with a twist. Simply cool.

I find these funny and surreal. Art is more than just "beautiful" things.

That was my first thought, too. Now I'm gonna steal that ideal.

Far from the ugliest; mine is like your "before", but worse: with textured wall, a medicine cabinet, and peeling linoleum. And I rent, so I'm stuck with it for a while.

The "after" is simple and effective. Good job!

I love star anise, which is the one on top in the picture. You don't even have to grind it (since you use it whole), and it has a sweet, liquorice-like flavour, only better.

Might want to make sure your porcelain pens are food safe. I prefer going to those "paint your own pottery" places with real glazes, but I guess this is a fun alternative.

Except Japan doesn't celebrate the Lunar New Year anymore. They follow the "western" calendar.

The swan tureen was pretty cool, and to be honest, not very Christmasy. I even have some non-glittered, non-holiday coloured/themed ornaments around the apartment year round.

Very creative! Much better than the mass produced animal-of-the-month.

I used to love Method products, until they started producing anti-bacterial products. (They were against anti-bacterial products before; that makes them a bit hypocritical.)

Instead of flowers, I prefer big tropical leaves.

Always liked the idea, but is it a good idea to put herbs in the jars? I don't think they're going to be food safe.

Just like what you like, and sooner or later, it's going to be a "trendy" animal. It's kind of sad to think that somewhere out there, there are people getting rid of their owl decor to make room for the new fox decor... until the next animal trend anyway.

I do use napkin rings, but only twice a year: Thanksgiving and Christmas. I don't have room for center pieces or seasonal plates, so they become a simple and space-saving way to decorate the dining table (which is actually my coffee table).
