YES and I love your space. Something abut the nitch, floors etc

How about built in book shelves on the right of the window with your chair jutting out out from that axis (bookshelf and window)

You could also make a long cushion for the window sill

The table could against the wall space before the window area or a small table opposite the chair

Either way, I like your elements and know it will look great

Thanks everyone for the comments about my Geisha House. I was pleasantly surprised to see this post---thanks Jason for doing it.

Geisha House as a shower? Hmmmm----Cool idea too. For now, I remain content to wait to decide what purpose it will ultimately serve and just enjoy having it around as a visual element

For those who don't get it---that's OK but know that useless is not always defined by lack of utility and this booth will definitely never end up on my trash heap.

The gravel and its cleanliness is not the problem. As others said you need at least two inches of it to make it uniform and I like the idea of putting a planting boxes around the perimeter or even a bench.

Cleaning out the weeds and misc plant growth will also do a world of good

Is there a shortage of design stories today?

Not sure which was the before or after shot but i would move the couch out from against the window/wall.

The carpet looks nice.

Thanks all for your comments. I really enjoyed this experience and am happy to answer the questions you have posted:

1--Green Color in guest bedroom---I was grocery shopping at Giant and bought a granny smith apple that inspired me. Took the apple to HomeDepot across the lot and had them color match the peel at the color shade I most liked. It is Behr, flat

2--It warms my heart that everyone loved our dogs. Sofie is the oldest and can be seen trotting out of the kitchen. Georgie Girl (AKA George) is the one peeking out of the pillow on the bed. Our baby---WEEZY---was camera shy on this day. She is adorable too!

3--The grey color on the main floor is Ralph Lauren SOHO loft. The orange is Chinese Mandarin

4--The MOMA banner is in fact an original from betterwall.com. They have great stuff

5-- I understand the concern over the chalkboard headboard in the guest room/reading room. You will notice, however, that most of the information written on it are TV channel listings which does not change. This is for the ease of guests who want a quick reference to their favorite channel and I liked the busy rolling ticker tape feel of it.

I don't write on it regularly so the dust is not a problem

6-- Yes, the fireplace is a ventless gas insert

7--The ORK poster is framed in an "off the rack" IKEA frame. I had to cut about an inch off to make it work but the price was right. It killed me to alter the print but I am recently laid off and have to pinch my pennies

8---Yes the orange/red/blue bomb is a harmless bomb shell from World War II (at least that's what they told me when I bought it 10 years ago--Millenium on U Street). I call it the love bomb. It used to be in my front yard but on September 15, 2001, I received a visit from the DC cops and secret service about it. No fibbing

9--The sofa is from Crate&Barrel. I think its called the Rochester

Thanks for your feedback and write if you want more. I am sorry the post didn't include my dining room, office and backyard. I would have loved your opinions on those spaces too

Peace and Best wishes

Peter

Were the light cabinets painted to the gray green or replaced? The whole thing works on so many levels. Come and do my house please

I really like the use of color in this house and admire the confidence of these two guys to combine it and various patterns

I also appreciate the effect of ordered clutter ---especially in the den. Giving me lots of ideas

How did you do the terrarium, if it is a terrarium? Stunning!

Like the Bertoia mixed in with regular furnishings.

Not so keen on the color palette for the kitchen

The bones of the house are great and the remodel job technically beautiful (like the kitchen and built in bedroom). Nice job.

I do think the placement of personal decorative items should be different to jazz things up.

Examples:

---lamp on round side table---too big and not enough contrast

---pictures over fireplaces not big enough and hung too high

---like the hanging dead animal but his/her face should be looking into the room

---nix the entry table with record player and ?. looks contrived and a bit cheap---especially with the inexpensive posters and frames above it

Thanks for sharing. I know it must be hard to open up like that but you should feel proud of the rehab you have done

Love the idea of this. Agree with other posts about the room the door leads to. Would love it to open up to a smaller panic room---that would be dramatic

QUESTION: How does the bedroom side of the door look? Can you send a picture of that?

Keep up your good work
