Anyone with a small home knows how this works. Some things (diaper bin, changing pad) get moved elsewhere during dinner parties, the same way I deal with the stupid cat box that has to live in my eat-in kitchen (out to the porch and hope she can hold it until everyone goes home)!

I'm all for eco-friendly but give me a bleach pen and I'll knock that right out for you. :)

I don't really care about the "code" (I prefer Wikipedia's term "standards of respect," since yes, you aren't going to be hauled off to jail for violating etiquette established during WWII) but I would point out that displaying a flag of that size so prominently in your home means you must have some respect for your country.

Photo effects actually hurt my eyes, if you can believe that. Especially the kitchen. I felt like I was in a dream sequence of heaven. Oh well. The house looks super fun otherwise.

I love the Mia. Got a slightly better deal on Amazon but it was still an investment. It was worth it.

Yay Daniel! I'm so happy a renter won this competition. I love beautiful homes that people own and have the resources to do amazing things to. But it's such an inspiration to have the prize go to someone in my shoes: renting, without a lot of dough, still trying to make magic happen. You so deserved this.

Right, in every piece of classic fiction I've read with wealthy characters, the men and women had entirely separate areas of the large home and would come together only for socializing with guests and for meals. Always appealed to me!
