I had to do this for a design class. If you want to do the manual (non-photoshop) method: Take a picture and put a clear sheet (like a sheet protector) over it. Draw a grid on the plastic. Make a grid on your canvas. Look at one square of the picture at a time and average the color in that square. It helps to blur your eyes. Then, as Kevin says, paint by number.

The garlic peeler is how I got my fiance to help in the kitchen. It did the job no other tool could do.

This happened to my friend with penguins... mentioned them once as a kid and was inundated for years. She's finally gotten rid of all the penguin stuff and I'm not allowed to mention it to anyone lest it begin again.

I don't know if anyone will look at this post again, but I tried Zig's recipe and it was awesome and mindlessly easy!

Overlooking the extreme staging, I agree with katiejane, a sink would be good, especially a utility sink.

I think my ideal crafting room would also have some comfy chairs too. I don't think I've ever crafted at a desk, excluding using a sewing machine.

We keep a dry-erase board on the fridge with headings for grocery, bulk food store, and hardware store. We jot down things as we think of them. Before heading out to the store I write up a list from the perpetual list plus add on ingredients for that week's meals.

It might seem redundant, but this gives me a chance to write it up by store layout.

When we bought our house, the garage had decorative paper stapled to just about every surface. We took it all down, with one exception. On one wall they wrote in cut out pieces of paper "Happy New Year 1958". They even added martini glasses and bubbles. I love the history it gives to the house. I can just see the friends all gathered together in the garage for a great party. And it's pretty cool to feel nostalgic for a time when I wasn't even born!

I've always loved this building, and I also hope that some generous soul decides it's just to great to tear down.

To answer your question 39520expat, it's been boarded up for as long as I've lived here (10 years), so nobody's added or even maintained it.

I enjoy Color Splash. It's creative and they seem to have a lot of fun with their projects. It's also in San Francisco, so I get really excited when I recognize places.

I tried cream of tartar once. I guess they don't like to cross it, so I sprinkled it along where I saw them coming in and it worked.

Ooh... nice. In SF, every other house has a gate, it seems like. It's nice to occasionally see some good looking ones instead of standard ugly security gates.

For anyone in SF, my friend, Ron Lester, does beautiful metal work: www.ironmaverick.com. One day I'll be able to commission something from him!

As long as you're there, both Pomona and Scripps colleges are great places to see some beautiful architecture too. Wish I could say the same for the other Claremont colleges.

I agree with the comments that you should go with your gut.

On the other hand, I would feel like it was meant to be. Maybe you get to have the life that she didn't get to have.

I work at a nonprofit that serves children with hearing loss. The house I grew up in was abandoned for nearly 20 years because it was under sad circumstances when we left. No one in the family wanted to think about it. When we finally did sell it, the buyer was the mother of a girl who is deaf. It made me feel much more hopeful about the house.

Hee hee... I think it's funny that the next sentence after deciding to reduce consumption involves buying a book.

Regarding the book, sounds like a great subject to explore. Certainly, it explains why adolescents are such a sought-after market. Young people are trying desperately to define themselves and branding gives them an easy way to do so.

I've seen these ads around. Definitely found it creepy. Don't know if it's the expression on the girl's face, the fact that the CFLs look like some kind of bottles or the confrontational atmosphere of the picture.

The container store had the same trashcans, just a touch cheaper: $15.

I'm a penny pincher!
