Grapefruit soda, pear cider, kefir and mead!!! I ordered a copy yesterday to send to my daughter in Madison - I'd love to win a copy for myself!

I'm excited to get started today! However, I also looked into your recommendation for the Dyson Slim, and it looks like it is no longer available. Was it replaced by the Digital Slim? Any thoughts or reviews on that model, or is there another model I should be looking at?

This so reminds me of a beloved rag doll I was given when I was small. Her arms legs and torso were made like this, though not of wool, but calico squares instead. I carried that doll around for years - I've often thought I would love to find one like it for my daughter. What a happy memory!

Save the corks! This makes a lovely display that is fun to look through. I have five or so years worth in a clear glass vase. I put the date on the end of the cork and write in the event, if any, and who shared the bottle with us. It makes me smile every time I see a cork peeking out that reminds me of an event or person I haven't thought of for a while. Every time I clean and dust the shelf it lives on, I stir up the corks to reveal different ones. The corks are easy to store and display, but I can't imagine that many bottles in my house!

Louisa - thanks so much for your clear-headed advice! That is a really great way to look at it. My husband is going to be between shows for the next couple of weeks (a rare treat to have him home in the evenings) and he's excited about the Cure, too. I think we'll focus on switching the girls rooms and do the cleaning on each room and let each week be "done" as you suggest. I can already tell we'll still have a lot to do for the Spring Cure. That's ok - this is a great process to be in!

Hey - it does feel nice to get a little strength from the group! Week one has been a little on the good side and little on the bad. I did get a large list of repairs made and was surprised to see that it wasn't as long as I thought it would be, and not too terribly daunting. However, I still haven't gotten the mopping done. Ug, the idea of moving all the stuff filling up the corners of my space makes it so hard to get started! I'm steeling myself to get it done today (my birthday present to myself!) by envisioning clear corners and good flow in a few weeks! I did buy flowers and tuck them into strategic spots safe from my plant-devouring cat. I've got to get some of those hanging vases! I EVEN took some PICTURES, and maybe I'll post a few if I have time after mopping later.

Enter the confessional: This is my first Cure and it's long overdue. My oldest daughter has gone off to college and I'm anxious to get her stuff under control. I have years of general decluttering to do. My husband is a college professor and music director at shows in the evenings, so I'm mostly home alone with my 3 year old daughter. I'm a little nervous about committing to this Cure (because I'll be doing it on my own), but now is really the time to get moving. At the end of it, I hope to have gotten rid of a lot of things, including some large furniture items that should be replaced. I also plan to switch my daughters rooms. I have so much to do that I really haven't gotten the courage to post any before pics yet. Maybe I'll have the guts to post before pics by the Spring
Cure. By the way, Maxwell, thanks for a great site that has already given me a ton of inspiration to improve my home!

Our worst mess was made by my (non-cook) husband, who decided to make a chili dinner on his own for our family and his dad. The recipe called for putting the cooked diced beef in tomato sauce in the blender before adding other ingredients. After a brief search for the blender lid, hubby decided to just use his hand to cover the top. As soon as the blender was turned on, he discovered where the lid was (in the blender!) - also the hot beef was a bit too much for his hand, so chili went EVERYWHERE! He actually put the mixture through a strainer to remove the plastic lid slivers, cleaned up and continued cooking the meal. He didn't reveal his secret ingredient until AFTER we had eaten! Luckily, I didn't arrive home from work until just before dinner was served, so I didn't have to help with cleanup, but I still can't believe he served blender lid chili to us!
