Anyone know where I can have fabric laminated? I've been looking online but haven't found anything. Also tried it myself with an online tutorial to iron contact paper onto fabric but it didn't survive the washing machine.

I really like this room! Can you tell me where you got the pattern for the crib skirt? I have the same crib and I've already made sheets for it but could use a skirt. Thanks!

For those worried about too much soy, Quorn is a great alternative and their crumbles are great -- I use them in chili all the time.

I'm on a perpetual quest for the perfect veggie dog, as hot dogs are one thing I really miss since going veggie. Anyone have a favorite they'd suggest?

Popcorn, definitely! Only made on the stove, though.

Also, I love roasting brussels sprouts and cubes of sweet potato until they're crispy. Topped with an egg, over medium, is one of my favorite comfort food dinners.

And as soon as it starts to get chilly, I make lots of soups and stews, like chili (from the Joy of Cooking), curry (Nigella Lawson has a pretty good pumpkin curry recipe) and tortilla soup.

I love it on shrimp boiled in beer. Also have heard its good on the rim of a Bloody Mary glass...sounds like a good idea but I haven't tried it yet...

Oops -- that was totally a typo. It was a whole "braid". My bad ;)

Thanks so much for posting my question! The garlic is cold-smoked. From the little I've been able to find on the internet, if I cook with it, it will lose its smoky flavor. But I definitely will try roasting it. Perhaps on its own like that is the best way. I also used a little in some guacamole this weekend but it didn't seem to taste any different.

I drink tons of Vintage Seltzer so this would definitely cut down on the number of plastic bottles I go through every week!

Ooh -- I'm going to try this this weekend!

ForbiddenFruit -- Have you tried white whole wheat flour? It's a 100% whole wheat flour, but it acts more like white flour. White whole wheat is naturally occurring, not bleached -- I think I read somewhere that it's like the blond verson of whole wheat. HTH!

It's not exactly pie, I don't think, but at Marlow and Sons they have an amazing chocolate-caramel tart with sea salt sprinkled on top!

What's the optional, finely ground tea at the end of the ingredient list for? Or am I reading it wrong?

I made these last night and had some trouble with them. I couldn't tell when the sugar had caramelized. First I saw a lighter streak (kind of caramel-colored) while stirring. Then I let it cook longer because it wasn't close to 350 and eventually I saw darker streaks form. The sugar wasn't smoking, but it was bubbling and poufs of steam came out of the bubbles. It was only up around 250 at that point but it had been cooking for more than 8 minutes (prob around 10 or 12) so I took it off the heat.

Then as it was cooking the second time, the mixture kept bubbling up to the top of the saucepan. The recipe said to leave unattended, but I kept having to pull it off the heat and stir it down so it wouldn't bubble over. I got that one up close to 250 at the end, off by maybe a few degrees.

The result is that my toffee is too soft. I pulled it out to cut it up this morning and it was melting and sticking to my hands. Does anyone know at what point this problem might have been caused? Thanks so much for any help...

Oops, nevermind. Just realized there's a link to how to swirl them, too. Off to read it now...

Just watched the video for the marshmallows. I love the swirly ones but in the video they spray the top of the marshmallows and put parchment paper on them. Won't the parchment paper mush the swirls? Also, I've never made anything marbly like that. Advice on how to do it?

Someone said ee-KAY-ah to me and I had no idea what they meant. I think I only realized a few sentences later. I say eye-KEE-ah ;)

I looooove popcorn, but hate the prepackage microwave kind. I make it on the stovetop all the time, but I have to say my old, lightweight pot works way better than my heavy non-stick All-Clad. I keep the crappy one around just for popcorn :) And I find I don't have to shake it much. Just once or twice towards the end.

There is a non-profit that turns old jeans into insulation. Can't remember what it's called, but Ralph Lauren does projects with them sometimes...
