We did black/charcoal walls in my bedroom and they came out very nicely....

The headboard wall was done using RL suede paint base -- but then just used one of the black color formulas... and the side walls were done in a lighter charcoal color by hand-mixing white suede base primer with one of their greys that store-mixed for us (and way too dark for what we wanted) We made sure to keep all the leftovers in case of touch up.

The bedroom looks great in full sunlight, and it's also very nice and super-dark at bedtime. A pair of red silk pendants hovering over each of the nightstands makes it all sorts of cozy.
