for the most part i love these kits but i do want to warn about some quality issues i've had. the first thing i bought from this line was crayons, the big huge one and a pack of smaller ones. these were great, but the next time i went to buy something, i had a few problems. i bought the beach bash jewelry kit for my daughter. it comes with hemp cords and a needle to thread the cord through the beads and sea shells that have wholes drilled into them. the holes in all of shells were too small to pull the needle through, and the needle eye was too small to pull the hemp cord though. a lot of the sea shells were broken and didn't seem like great quality at all. i also bought a paint by number kit for myself. one of the paintings was covered in mold front and back and was completely unusable and would've been a health hazard for my kids had i opened it. i'm sure most of the kmm stuff is great but i was really disappointed with these items.

i'm redoing my daughter's room and just got her a sheet set from target. it's from the shabby chic line, which normally isn't really my taste but they had some great sheets in pretty muted colors with a lacy edge that i really like.

i hope i have never made someone feel humiliated or "less than" by the small efforts i have made in my life to be more environmentally-friendly.

i have to agree with the former commenter about the goodbyn. it's horrible. i sent it to school with my daughter twice last year and it was very difficult to get the lid to stay shut. after a while we couldn't get the top part shut at all! and the drink container that comes with it leaks.

toddler beds seem like a waste to me, but i guess they work well for some kids.
my oldest was in her crib until she was a little over 3 years old, never tried to get out or climb it at all. we moved her straight into a twin size bed without a railing or anything. she stayed in that bed just like she stayed in her crib, and it's been great for her.
i don't know what we'll do with her little brother, though. he's been climbing in and out of his crib for months (he's 3 now) and he's a really wild sleeper. might have to get a rail this time.

i don't know if i would call this "hot" but when you have a two-year-old who likes to overturn anything in his way when he's upset, you can start to see why this would perhaps be a good idea.

definitely just do it without destroying the book. did you see the cover of the most recent readymade magazine? it looks great and they just used the bracket alone.

hey, SherryBinNH, AMEN! i live 3 hours away from an ikea, but my parents live close by, and whenever we go to visit them we also hit the ikea for furniture. we bought a new house last year and needed new couches, bookshelves, t.v. cabinet, nightstands, etc.
most of our stuff is ikea for a few simple reasons: we like the way it looks, it fits our price range, and there are absolutely no stores around here that cater to the kind of aesthetic we like. (everything's overstuffed, maroon, country blue, or log cabin-esque.)
all the stuff we have has lasted/worn very well.
