My kids picked out new lunch boxes on Lands End and they arrived last night. They are very nice and the kids are thrilled with their choices (the comic strip for the Boy and the floral MadBox for the Girl). We should get a few years out of these.

There are a few available in the South Philly store which may not be that faraway depending on where you are in MD.

Also, if you call a store that has it in stock they can ship it to you directly.

I feel especially aggrieved when trying to buy content for alleged "learning" toys that have no value other than to promote a T.V. show or movie.

Also the new version of "Another Monster at the End of The Book" is an abomination - SPOILER ALERT - only Grover should ever be the monster at the end of the book.

This has overtaken the place in my heart previously reserved for the Solar System bedding. This is brilliant.

Our "formal" living room is our playroom (of course we still have toys in every other room of the house). It is nice because the room actually gets used on a daily basis. I have an old hope chest I put on casters for storage and I'm gearing up to do a wall of Expedit or Billy to get everything else off the floor.

Although I was not successful in finding the right piece for my second child's room, I desperately wanted to put a sofa in her room instead of a chair to make the space more inclusive to more older child. Nursing time could be more easily shared, piling on for story time, etc. would have been eased by a love seat or couch in the nursery. I ended up loving the chair we got (Room & Board's glider) but sometimes still wish I had looked longer and harder for the rights couch!

We always offer potty before a bath and then sing a special silly potty song we made up both for trying and for going. We never make the kids sit on the potty until they go - we try: count to 20 and if they go great and if they don't go by the time you're done counting then they are done.

And the other posters who say it clicks when it clicks are right on. Don't force it - it will come.

I've been doing the four hour trip to see my parents at least 6 times a year on my own with the kid(s) since my oldest was two months old.

Nap time planning is a good strategy. Nurse/give a bottle right before you leave. CDs with music your son likes so you can sing loudly over it if you are stuck in traffic and he is freaking out.

Build in at least one stop at the 2 hour point - that is about the maximum my kids could stand until they were older than 18 months. BUT don't stop the car if you can help it if he is sleeping.

You can do it! and enjoy your time away from home!

This I might be able to get home in my car - the 5x5 is too long for such a long drive.

How do people get that thing to their house anyway? Do they actually pay more than the cost of the item for the IKEA delivery charge?
