I agree that sometimes people look at you like you are nuts to rent, but mostly it comes from a good place. I think the underlying thought is that you are throwing money away. I have managed to buy an apartment in the city, sell it, and buy an apartment for cash in brooklyn with no mortgage. My monthly is only the tax abated common charge of 350 bucks....its such a great feeling. So, my owning an apartment allowed me to put myself in this current position. Often you could never afford the space you have from renting if you were buying. (this is for nyc only )

Wow. Just a wonderful example of how working with a professional can transform a space into something magical. Now if I could only afford to hire him :)

Oh, and you can just wipe down the leather to remove the hair and smell isnt an issue

An incredibly bad idea. There is a saying, don't put good over bad. It's a good saying. Removing tile can be tedious and a pain sometimes, but it is a job that anyone can do. There are tons of instructional videos on youtube that can show you how to remove tile in the bathroom, prep the wall and also how to install wainscotting. Do not put anything over the existing tile. Do it right the first time

Man, I should have gone into Finance. I have a roof deck and to do anything like this would cost bundle. I have some rubber tiles and a sofa from Restoration Hardware lol. Still, its outside right?

I have been throwing an annual halloween party in my apartment for several years. I love decorating for Halloween. I decided I would decorate for an entire month ie all of october to get the most out of the decorations. My style has changed and I now go with a more fall motiff but with a few fun spiders and pumpkins around

It always is facinating to me when people seem to be "offended" or even question when the idea of furniture geared towards a specific sex. If you google masculine rooms you will find a myriad of choices from some of the top designers in the world who have created masculine furniture or interiors. We don't seem to have issues with identifying furniture for children. We can do this based on the patterns chosen or color schemes or even the whimsy of a piece of furniture. Most of the lines and colors of the sofas above clearly evoke a masculine look. Ralph Lauren has entire lines of furniture dedicated to the masculine look

I feel your pain about the "rain of cigarettes burning holes in your cushions" I also have had this problem. I live in the Village(NYC), and have a huge deck. My sofa has a nice burn hole in it. According to the city, the bldg owners are responsible and are guilty of two violations, creating a fire haazard and believe it or not...illegal dumping. Its a long slog if you wanna fight it...for me...i just put up with it.
