I don't understand why people get so crazy about cables. I have never had a problem just wrapping my unused cables and cords around themselves. Hands On Preview: Unlace Ties Up Cord and Cable Clutter |

It depends on the kind of notes I'm taking: if I'm in a lecture where I'm just listening, I use my iPad with a bluetooth keyboard (works well because the screen is more adjustable than on a laptop) but if I'm interacting in a meeting then paper and pencil is best because I usually need to take less detailed notes and can later, when typing something up, refer to them (I find it easier to look at paper next to me while writing then a second window...) I went to a school, in Germany, that sounds exactly like this, and it was definitely not like Montessori. The aspect of the school I really liked was the social one, because no matter what kind of person you are your always interacting with others, from learning to eating lunch, and a lot of schools don't foster that! I think that one learns a lot from peers, but learning in a class as a whole is really hard! The noise plays a role, so I think if you have a system where you don't need to teach 20+ kids at a time, but can work with them individually or in small groups and have a large enough space to spread out in, it works really well, but if not, it is destined to fail. I find that most methods like these (Parental controls being a common one) tend to backfire. I know someone who in response to tech "rationing" set up Parental controlls on his parents computer. So how about just talking with your kids/teenagers about helping out so everyone can live in a nice clean house? Using the WiFi Password as a Reward for Kids? |

It is sad that our Government chooses to "reluctantly" ban something that is harming children, but I guess it wouldn't be the first time, in 1909 France, Belgium and Austria were the first to ban lead interior paint, whereas it took the USA until 1978! As a child my extended family lived oversees and most summers, since the age of five, I went to visit them on my own. I found, that all though packing all of those things was helpful in avoiding boredom, they made my backpack very heavy which when traveling alone became very cumbersome, and made it very easy to leave things behind. The only thing my parents always packed for me was a passport, and in it a document simply stating where I was going and who was in charge of me during that time (signed by my parents of course) What to Pack: When Your Kids Travel Without You |
