I agree AmyEileen88! You cannot discern light without dark or color without contrast. Too much of a good thing is still too much. I like keeping larger pieces neutral (may want to move it to another room someday) and when the child gets older and decides on his/her new favorite color changing the accessories will be the less expensive way to go! Semantics and opinions aside as to whether taking an uninspired dull area and performing a MAKEOVER (before and after), this room is inspiring! As for posts that don't pertain to me, I just skip them. Before & After: Construction Zone to Vibrant Twins' Room Five Days Five Ways |

You've created a visually appealing and great functioning room for a child. Love that the BEFORE windows, which were nondescript, have turned into the AFTER windows with the excellent drapery framing! Before & After: Stylish Stripes in a Boy's Bold NurseryThe Hubbell Chronicles |

A closet (which is usually an ugly, bland white thing) turned into a functional and thoughtfully organized space. I bet you can immediately find what you're looking for, avoid duplicate buys and hoarding of things you may never use either. Great job! Before & After: Kim's Closet to Craft Room |

I feel this is the perfect example of updating/upgrading to meet today's contemp/modern/trad way of decorating and design. The color is charming and full of life and the fabric is PERFECT in color and holds the contemporary pattern! It seems you've designated it a working piece vs. a staging piece so the thicker cushion is ideal! Love it! Before & After: A Wooden Bench Goes Bright |

Apostrophes and photos aside, this is a wonderful example of what thinking "out of the box" can achieve. Too often usable space is wasted due to preconceived ideas of its use. Hi Robin -- You have a decorative window on one side of the sofa and a recessed area on the other side. Maybe just use a narrow sofa-height console table behind the sofa and place lamps on each end with plants and large decorative items across the back to keep the importance of those architectural elements. If not, then a symetrical gallery wall of large pieces is a great idea so the eye has a place to rest. How Can We Decorate an Awkward Wall? Good Questions |

Again, a piece is only as valuable as the demand for it. Painting this dark gray is a stroke of genius as you need a dark in order to see light! jenjo is so right! The color does enhance the marbling! Before & After: $60 Marble-Top Coffee Table Makeover Jess Lively |

This is an excellent makeover! Your sentimental attachment to it has kept it in the family and, like your ancestors, you were fearless to make changes to make it yours! Much more contemporary and so less "heavy" with the new color and fabrics! Remember, a piece is only as valuable as the demand for it. This rocker will be in demand for years! I am a firm believer that if a piece isn't of historical or extreme monitary value, do whatever it takes to make it loved and kept from disposal.
