Well, I thought my idea was good, but I'm thinking of changing it. I got a small chest of drawers that works perfectly as a side table by the living room sofa. The first two drawers hold all our tools and the bottom one holds extra pots for plants and extra candles. The drawers on this particular chest don't open very easily though (it was a $2 yard sale find), so it always causes grumblings when we're trying to open it. My husband is a musician and we have 3 children. I have found kid-sized earplugs at the drugstore that work well, even for the infant. They are customizable (I just tear them smaller to fit in the wee one's ear). The instructions are on the box. They are kind of like silicone play-doh. Apparently, people in the 30s didn't need much closet space when this house was built. My monstrosity of a vacuum currently lives wherever I last used it.
