When we were going through this same debate, my husband pointed out that I go to great pains not to purchase plastic toys that "might" contain lead from China, feed my child organic foods to avoid unknown chemicals, etc... then shouldn't I exercise that same caution when decorating our baby's bedroom.

The baby is not going to appreciate that fantastic print/picture hanging over her crib, but she definitely would appreciate not having it fall on her head!

Where did you get the light fixture. And I'm curious how you managed to cover the corkboard with doggie fabric and still leave the frame around the edge. Did you cut a piece of fabric that fitted the space exactly, or did you take the board apart?

We installed the Knappa in my daughter's room and I love it. Because her ceiling is not super tall, we mounted the lamp flush against the ceiling, rather than letting it hang like a pendant.

@babsmith726 - yes, we took it a part to spray paint.

@nellymom - I think the trick is making sure that you sand off all the grime before painting, so that the paint has a surface to adhere. Krylon paint is suppose to hold up a lot better, but it was significantly more expensive. We figured if it chips after the winter, we'll just spray some touch ups in the spring.
