The first quilt I made was similar to the third patchwork pattern, but for the quilting part, instead of trying to make a perfect "X" in each square I just "stitched in the ditch" and followed the seams of the squares of fabric. My niece went to Italy last year and took a week long artisan food tour where she learned to make amazing authentic Italian dishes. She always invites us over when she's making homemade ravioli (which she learned how to make from an "Italian mamma"!) and it has become my favorite Italian dish ever!
