I recognize that photo as a picture of textile designer Anna Maria Horner's garden. It was taken uncredited from her Flickr photo stream here.

Darn that Jooly, I totally forgot what I came back to ask.

I want to know how you did the headboard? I've seen those light-up branches at World Market but what did you do to work with all of the separate plugs you must have when using that many together? Thanks.

Jooly,

How functional is your headboard supposed to be? If they are supposed to have functions, I wonder how many in this contest fulfill them. I'm pretty impressed that you could read by this one, if needed.

Whew! When I saw the beginning of this post I was so upset that someone had stolen my idea of covering this house on a design blog. However, with just two pictures and no commentary I hope I can still do it without copycat complaints. Now I think I might be checking out that book that thew mentioned too.

Okay, I can vote Super Cool for this one. This is not only cool it also is actually what I consider small.

Kristin also did a great job of photographing all of her space, showing off the great angles but also showing the actual apartment. Great job Kristin and Good luck!!

I always loved this piece. I remember that Ramonah has since had to sell this, I wonder who bought it and what they did with it.

Great job, I love the kitchen and the hallway especially. Your bed corner also looks like a great resort holiday cabin.

I agree with flower222, join the Color contest too. Remember to take some new pictures though, don't just reuse these or you'll hear about that in the comments.

Good luck!

Good job!

You have the same problem that I do, when you don't have breaks of clear or empty space around your walls, the apartment looks busy and crowded. As you can see in that 2nd picture above, it looks like every piece of your furniture actually touches the one next to it. You might try to break up that bookcase -> CD tower -> dresser -> end table -> record player floor plan. In my apartment, once I built in some wall space around the room it not only looked better I also felt better in it.

This is only my opinion, but give it a try and see how you like it.

p.s. Drew Barrymore has that same record player and I have it in black.

mcalister45,

The drapes are from IKEA. They are the Stockholm BLADs, you have probably seen the green ones before though.

Last year I would have loved to have done this!

But now I'm too committed to work, school, my two blogs, and a weekly post on 2Modern. Maybe I'll catch you later in the run. Whoever does get the job should definitely write about The Good Eye, (vintage furniture/accessories) and checking out the thrift stores nearest the richest neighborhoods and in the suburbs. Congrats AT on getting to D.C. so soon!

I guess I didn't think of this as a pure Before-After.

I could see stopping at any of the other two stages and I think that is what they suggest. You could go all out and use an entire weekend or just spruce up your place in an hour. Or in other terms, you could move it from Better Homes & Gardens territory to Domino and then on to Metropolitan Home.

I forgot to add that my original thought about their sign-up was that this data would make it easier for AT to decide what the next AT city would be. So if they will honor personal privacy and won't sell my information then I could be fine letting them know that the east coast needs another hub beside New York.

About the privacy issue, they do ask you if you want to be part of the AT email list. Under that they write "We value your privacy. We do not sell or rent this list."

Maybe I shouldn't have assumed in this case but if they put that there for the email list, I am taking the chance that would most certainly apply towards your actual home address. If that is not true, then yes I wold want AT to strike my address then.

Yes, I did sign up, so AT please don't make me regret that decision I made based on the wording of your sign-up.

Shawn,
I certainly hope Liesl bought it at that price and not the one listed on her link. After all this research and the letters not making sure to get it at the best price possible really would be a shame and an embarrassment.

In this room, the pillows share the same geometry shape but not all the same color. The circular shapes represented in the wall art connects them and their colors then tie back to the cushions. I don't think anything is fighting in this room. There might be some conflict but it only brings interest.

I don't think the bedspread and rug fight at all, I think they coordinate. Some of the best home designs have a mixture of patterns that have some unifying elements. In this case, they both share the same geometric shapes, and the same colors are all on the same tonal level.

I would suggest pumping up the yellow a bit more by going a bit richer than the pastel shade it is now. Perhaps go one shade up on the paint chip. It also looks like the yellow of your sheets could be right. so, pick your favorite colors that are in both the rug and bedspread; they can be shades or tints, but the same color, and use those for more accessories and pillows. I love that one geometric pillow on the chair, it also works with shapes of the other two pieces and I like that its colors are a bit richer.

I'll send an example of what I mean if I have the time. Good luck!
