Also, don't forget about cashback programs like fatwallet, or the many others out there. When we did our redid our kitchen we bought all of our appliances from sears onsale for between 25-30% off (Sears has some killer sales if you can wait a couple weeks), and then got an additional 4-5% cashback just by using cashback programs from fatwaller and bing cashback (when it was around)

@keeperrox You beat me to it.

Good thing I left Michigan for Salt Lake City, or else we could have been facing the same irritation.

@qhartman I agree with pretty much everything you said. Since ripping out much of our front yard and replacing it with a deck and garden, we have met many of our neighbors and feel much more part of the neighborhood.

Before and after pic. Garden is a little slow this year with the lingering winter we had here in SLC. Though our winter garden was much better this year.

@mira123, go to a good local bike shop or two, they should have a selection of handlebars and stems (the part that connects the handlebars to the fork) in-stock or available to order that will give you an upright riding position.

There are many styles to choose from that should allow you to get out and enjoy riding your bike.

Best of luck!

Anyone have a lead on non-made in china glass storage for bulk? Preferably in a classic design like the ones in the post.

We have had no luck. The only ones we have found are not the prettiest (square glass).

I really was hoping that they would offer the aluminum version in red. That would have been worth the $$$.

Just imagine 3 raw aluminum and 1 red aluminum chair around a table.

Yay Tiny!!! When we bought our house they claimed 691sq ft, but that is measuring the outside of the house. Double brick walls all around and inside gets us 542 living square feet.

If any one has some insulating words of wisdom for old (1880's) double brick homes with stucco exterior, plaster interior houses I would be all ears.

We live in SLC and though are walls are thick, two rows of brick, with stucco and plaster, in the late afternoon the walls radiate heat inside in the summer and are cool to the touch all winter making our heating bills higher then we prefer and making our un-air conditioned summers hot.

I was thinking the same thing when looking at the diagram, but then I realized, if it really does work you can turn down your hot water heater... thus saving energy/money.

New Belgium Brewery uses a similar concept on their boilers to reduce their energy costs. I would love RN or AT to test this item.

We have the Ikea Grundtal (http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/70146749) under our wall cabinet to the right of our sink, sits about 3-4 inches above the counter and we use bar towels to absorb the water. They are perfect sized, and super absorbent... plus easy to swap them out and wash em.

Overall the system works well, but I do miss having a dishwasher.

I echo the first comment when it comes to knowing more information about what current storage places your house/apt has?

However here are a few solutions that I think could be helpful

Rubbermaid Fast Track Vertical Bike Mount and track
http://www.rubbermaid.com/rubbermaid/product/product.jhtml?prodId=HPProd100588
Stagger two tracks, one higher then the other, giving you a lot of storage and flexibility in a compact amount of space. Also allows for easy reconfiguration.

If you have a tall garage this could be a solution, never seen it in person but coud solve part or all of the solution

We used to, but for xmas I got my girlfriend and iPod touch and now we mainly use it for recipes (and controlling our mac mini's itunes). So far it is working out pretty well, but a larger screen would be helpful and maybe a better recipe program... we are currently using Evernote.

Urboo: Ikea and CB2.com both carry various forms of ladders, any where from $50-80. Just go to their respective sites and search ladders.

I would either look into a banner/poster/art of some sort... but that would be a little iffy in my opinion.

If it was my space I would use one of these
http://www.amazon.com/Delta-Michelangelo-Two-Bike-Gravity-Stand/dp/B000ACAM38/ref=pd_bbs_sr_5?ie=UTF8&s=sporting-goods&qid=1235504143&sr=8-5

Integrating the bike into the room as an art it is, instead of trying to hide it, and you can place your desk against it (where the lower bike would usually go) as you only have one bike.

We have this exact model to hold two of our bikes in our living room. Really adds nice texture to the room, just make sure to put your helmet somewhere out of site, they save lives but dont look good in a living room.

Decent design, but the worst of Chinese quality which really bums me out because some of it (and the items on Umbra site) look nice.

Wow! So strange. My girlfriend and I have been planning an addition for our tiny 671 sq ft house that was built in 1887 (it started off as a one room home, then had two addition put on it over the years, yet still only 671 sq ft), and many of the materials and even some of the design ideas are very similar to what I have come up with. It's nice to see that we are on the right track, even if ours will be quite a bit more modest all around.

Anyone know what brand and model the range is? It looks like a Viking, but all the ranges I am finding have 6 knobs not 5.
