There's a lot of nice stuff going on here. I read another Apartment Therapy reader's comment about some concrete tile treatment that I think would enhance the country-chic-industrial mix this couple has going on: http://www.smart-urban-stage.com/blog/future-of-the-city/new-ways-of-sanctuary/ Katrine and Peter's Boston Loft House Tour |

I agree with Creative License - blend, but don't match. The tiles are the statement, in and of themselves. I am reminded of a project I read about recently, by a pair of Barcelona-based artists, who value the quirks of our interior living spaces, in a world that is ever attempting to iron out imperfection: http://www.smart-urban-stage.com/blog/future-of-the-city/new-ways-of-sanctuary/ I think you can look at these tiles in the same way - they are a daily reminder of a bygone age, a layer of history in your own home. Outrageous! What could be more innocuous - and, indeed, BETTER - than a front-yard garden? I wonder if this woman could have obviated the zoning laws with something mobile like this: http://www.smart-urban-stage.com/blog/future-of-the-city/crowded-cities/ ? It's an interesting idea, in any case (in my humble opinion!). More green, less asphalt sheen (had to come up with something! :) ) Are You OK with Front Yard Vegetable Gardening? Reader Survey |
