what a lovely little home. very cottage-y without seeming country or shabby chic.

those windows!!! first things i notice about a space are always windows and floors. lovely all around, and kudos on the restraint in furnishing it.

interesting that you didn't flip the bed and living space. i get it in terms of light: beds are used at night so it doesn't really matter if there isn't a lot of daylight coming in.

i've absolutely loved using airbnb. if i was going somewhere for only a few nights, i'd probably try to find a hotel, but for anything that's a week or longer, airbnb is hard to beat.

i used to have to go to a laundromat. not having a car, i'd drag my stuff to the closest place available. it was the world's worst laundromat. guys doing drugs in the bathroom. the floor was filthy. the machines were filthy. things would come out dirtier than when they went in, the machines were often taped shut, and TWICE a dryer caught on fire with all of my stuff in it.

never again. i don't mind hand-washing dishes at all, but i will never again go without laundry in my building.

looks so much more spacious than 500 sq ft. nicely done. is there a kitchen?

i know i'm going to sound like a crazy person, but i wish these spaces were MORE rustic. natural edges on the wood shelves, modular base cabinets. really old, weathered tables in place of kitchen islands.

you mounted your typewriter on the wall? i'm stealing that. voting for this for that detail alone!

you can drink red wine without spilling it everywhere. or, rather, i can drink red wine without spilling it everywhere. the first step is admitting you have a problem?

great home, and great restraint in not over-furnishing it. in other homes this size, people will try to cram in an eating nook and a desk and most of that isn't really necessary. well done.

two. one for my head and one to snuggle on. i don't get putting stuff on the bed that can't be slept on.

i sympathize. i have been on the move since last august. the longest i've stayed in any one place has been 3 months. for a while, i was moving into different short-term rentals every 2-3 weeks. i am traveling for work and i won't finally return to MY place until mid-august. i'm over it.

i feel more at home if i completely unpack my suitcases, if i trek around my toiletries and make-up (even though they take up precious luggage space), if i set up a nice space to do yoga. but it still isn't home. i find myself constantly thinking about my apartment back in my old city (currently rented to a friend). sometimes thinking about things i want to add or change to it, but mostly thinking about all the things i want to take out of it. to get rid of my bookcases and just stack my books on the floor. to donate my VHS/DVD collection. to get rid of the ikea furniture that's falling apart anyway (after being disassembled and moved to new locations 3 or 4 times now).

wow. this is so much better than a boxy apartment that just regurgitates every trend AT talks about. (chevrons! neon! open shelving! terrariums! decorative letters! empty picture frames on the wall! stacks of vintage suitcases! eames knock-offs!)

this may not be to everyone's taste (or anyone's taste) but this is so striking it really deserves to win. and if it loses out to a matchy-matchy suburban catalog home, then AT isn't a place for design, i guess.

i love me some MCM but this space is odd to me. everything is so low profile that it looks very unbalanced. the floors seem cluttered. i know i'm being super picky, especially when i love everything IN your home, but i wasn't bowled over by this one.

i love everything about this place. in particular, i like that it's a work in progress, that everything isn't perfect or from restoration hardware. it looks like real people with great style live here.

i've got plenty of underwear where the elastic is all worn, where (despite many cleaning and spot treatments) there are stains that just won't come out. where they still fit and do their job but there's a little hole near the waistband. i still wear them, but only at times where i'm not anticipating anyone seeing them other than me. and if i was moving in with someone, i would throw them all out.

i don't think that's anti-feminist or dated to say that. they function so i keep them, but i'd be embarrassed to be wearing them when i'm with someone.

to the plethora of women here that insist they don't give a shit what their boyfriend/husband/partner/lover think of their underthings, well... that's sad. relationships are not meant to be antagonistic. and they're not meant to be asexual. there's something genuinely nice about trying to be sexy to your partner. and hopefully your partner returns the favour with whatever turns you on (whether it's a visual thing like lingerie or not).

and there is a HUGE gulf between ratty, worn, stained, old underwear and fancy lace thongs. it's not an either/or choice. there are plenty of undergarment options out there that are both comfortable and not ugly.
