I completely agree with designpirate. I would wait until they can afford solid wood. (Make sure the product is "solid" because manufacturers can label laminates as hardwood even though it is mainly plywood)

If they are afraid of comfort with the wood they could also bind a large piece of carpeting. It would be less expensive than purchasing an area rug and easy to take to a cleaner.

I love the bathroom and kitchen. The black paint in the kitchen works wonders in opening the space.

I don't know if this apartment is rented or owned but think if the owner replaced the narrow strip floors with some wide planks the eye would be tricked into thinking it is a larger space. It also allows the wood to be a key player in the room rather than the seams between the boards giving it a more organic look to contrast with the clean lines of the furniture.

I really love the idea of using gray in a bedroom. I just painted an accent wall of my room with Ralph Lauren Ambassador Sterling Metallic Paint. I like it because the shade is a warm gray with some reflective quality to brighten the room. I have considered accenting with blue and have chosen cream as the other main color.

I think that I might switch the accent colors with the seasons using coral, royal blue or yellow.
