I have a better alternative to a high school studio art show: Your local university's art show. Many BFA students (many of them future professional artists) sell their pieces at end-of-semester art sales. Inexpensive AND you have an early piece from someone who could potentially become a well-regarded artist.

I'd try bleaching the grout and caulk (a Clorox spray works fine) before recaulking or buying grout pens. I've found that spraying bleach on problem areas around my bathtub works wonders.

All of these rooms are beautiful. I might be a bit biased, though--purple is one of my two favorite colors.

I was forced to use a low-flow shower head during the two years I lived in a university dorm. I'm all for being eco-friendly, but not when it takes me 10-15 minutes to wash shampoo out of my hair. My current apartment has a normal shower head, so I spend less than a minute rinsing my hair out. Showers with a normal shower head end up lasting only 5-10 minutes (five if I just shampoo and use body wash; ten if I add conditioner.) With low-flow, I spent a good 20 in the shower.

Definitely add potholders, a 9x13 (or 8x8) pan, pizza sheet, and cookie sheet. Homemade pizza (I make margherita) can be very good for you and yields ~4 meals.

And maybe it's just me, but I'm not the biggest fan of my cast-iron pans for everything but vegetables and eggs. About the only thing I feel comfortable using mine for is heating up quesadillas.

Love the idea of the awning over the pool, but hate it in practice. Even in Texas, that pool water must be pretty chilly most of the day.

I have a similar-style, similar-material ice cream parlor chair. I'm willing to bet that your chairs were at one point some sort of ice cream parlor/cafe chair.

I'm polite to my neighbors--I usually say hi or smile when I see one in the hall (I live in a 27-unit apartment building, so it's hard to meet all of them.) I'll make small talk with my neighbors when we happen to be in the foyer or laundry room at the same time, but that's about it.

Careful if you decide to put a Sharpie in the freezer (even capped); the marker will start to melt when you take it out to write, rendering your water-soaked Sharpie useless.

I would actually appreciate step-by-step instructions on how to clean a porcelain or ceramic sink. There are still a ton of brownstones out there with their original kitchens--no stainless in sight. :)

I love the castors, but I'd never put them on my own furniture. I'd be too afraid of stubbing my toes on them or running into them.
