Disclaimer: I am a friend of Traci's. I have visited her house countless times in all kinds of circumstances: children's playdates, grown-up parties, intimate soirees. And I have to say, I think she has found a creative balance of form and function.

There are so many dark, dank, oppressive craftswanabees in Pasadena, but this is refreshing. It has a certain exuberance (granted, not for everyone), but a joie de vivre and clarity that is absolutely refreshing. My kids love visiting here. I applaud her for reinventing a venerated aesthetic. She does not portray herself as a preservationist. She is an adapter. And if we ever learn one important lesson in life and creativity, surely it is that!
