I'm with Pi and vulpecula on this one. Port and cheeseplate is an aquired taste. I, for one, don't enjoy either and would be more than happy to have fruit instead. How Much Cheese Per Person Should I Serve? Good Questions |

@Unegen: Thanks, I know Germany is in Europe. The Netherlands (thats's in Europe too!) are right next to Germany, and I'm Dutch. But the article says 'European-STYLE' bags, so I wondered why this style is considered European. I hope it's not just because the company is because that would be the lamest reason I've ever heard. What's so 'European' about these bags? I love them, but I don't see it. Are there also 'American' style bags? Reisenthel EasyBag |

I'm with daisyt13. Writing in any book feels like sacrilege to me, so when I need to make a note I use a bookmarker or a post-it. Do You Write In Your Cookbooks? |

We eat chicken a lot, with beef coming in at a close second. I do the cooking at home, therefore usually I decide. I've stopped eating pork a couple of months ago due to the fact that I develop bad skin. I still miss it though, especially bacon. What Kind of Meat Do You Eat Most? Reader Survey |

I would definitely tell the host, but in a very inconspicuous way of course. If the host chooses not to listen to me, I will not eat it and advise my family (if present) to follow my example. Unsafe Food Handling: Do You Say Anything to Your Host? |

We host dinner parties on a regular basis, because our friends are from all over the country (The Netherlands) and we live smack in the middle. I feel it is the host's responsibilty to ask for dietary rescrictions and allergies, but just once and at the moment of the invitation. After that, the guests should let the host know asap. If you let me know two days before the dinner that you are allergic to peanuts, dairy and oh yes, you turned vegan, I will let you know that you have a problem. If this is considered small, I don't even want to know what people think about my kitchen, which is literally 3 metres wide, except for the stove and oven, we don't have a microwave and the surface on one side of the sink is taken by the dishwasher. It's not really so much a design thing, but what gets the hair on my arms rising is the feeling of the underside of a bowl made from earthenware that has nog been properly finished e.g. still has a rough edge (the kind that, when pushed over a wooden table, would leave the table scratched. I have a problem similar to this. I own a second-hand Senseo machine that was given to us by my sister-in-law. My boyfriend and I both don't drink coffee and we seldom have friends over who enjoy coffee, so the Senseo is a bit of a impediment in our small kitchen. Furthermore, it's not really functioning at 100 percent (leaks a bit) so I'm contemplating tossing it and NOT replacing it. But then I wouldn't be able to offer coffee to our guests, which, especially in the Netherlands, is a bit weird. Would I be a 'slacking' hostess if I can't offer coffee?
